🍵
My muse has a cold and keeps coughing. Send a 🍵 to give my muse a cup of hot tea to help soothe their throat.
The warm sides of the cup heated Tsukishima’s palms where he sat in front of the fire. It was late, the sun had set a while ago, but the persistent coughing had prevented him from even attempting to head to bed yet. And of course Riruka had noticed his absence.
Tsukishima smiled at the pinkette. “Thank you, Riruka. Hopefully this will help.” The voice that came out had the hoarse tinge of someone who had spent too long coughing. He swallowed a sip of the tea, ignoring the painful twinge of the raw skin on the inside of his throat.Â

Peace. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Finally.
Tsukishima lounged on the couch, one arm behind his head, the other holding his book up where he could read it. Riruka lay stretched out next to him, almost of top of him in the limited space. The stress of running had finally released its hold on them, the lingering effects withering away with the passing of time. They could relax, and they did.
He hummed softly to himself as they cuddled in the calm. Tsukishima enjoyed the warmth of Riruka near him, the soft crackle of a fire going across the room, the feel of paper beneath him fingers. The plot of his book held most of his attention for the first time in months.
The humming tapered off, Tsukishima’s smile slowly drifting down into a confused frown. He stared at the page of his book for several long moments. He closed the book, turning his head to let his eyes touch on the little details of the room. Something feels..off. Why did he feel like he wasn’t where he was supposed to be?
He let his arm with the book fall lightly above his head, eyes squinting up at the ceiling in thought. I..don’t have a fireplace in my living room, do I?.. There’s obviously one here...that can’t be what’s bothering me, I probably just can’t remember exactly when I had it installed. Maybe there was something I forgot to do? Tsukishima’s brows drew together in frustrated confusion.
Movement against his chest had him glancing down sharply, his body stilling at the shock of pink hair that met his eyes. “Who a-?” The feeling dissipated almost as quickly as it had come on. Tsukishima relaxed. Riruka. That was a sleepy Riruka. What had be been thinking? Amusement at himself had him smiling as he shook his head and brought a hand down to run through her silky hair. “I think it’s probably past time to head to bed, hmm?”
“You know… you really make me happy so I wanted to do something special for you for your birthday. I wasn’t sure what at first but I had finally decided that a simple night with a home cooked meal might be the best gift… but I did get you a cute silver bracelet too. It has a small heart charm but it’s kind of manly… but cute.”
Tsukishima drew Riruka's face up to his so that he could place a thankful kiss on her lips. "Thank you, darling." He accepted the bracelet gracefully and put it on, holding up his wrist so they could both see the result. "Hmm...how about tomorrow we go and get you a matching one for you?"

Hearing Tsukishima stutter with his words had nearly broken her heart right then and there but this had to be done. Riruka needed to protect him because those Soul Reapers were tracking her. If they kept that up and found her going to his new home, they’d be able to catch and kill him for all the wrong he had done. Riruka knew that he wasn’t like that anymore but he was still a wanted man so this was the only way to protect him. You have to. There is no other option. Keeping her composure, Riruka started to play off the act of the century by letting out a laugh and ending with a sinful smile that matching that of a woman who might have just gotten away with murder. “Don’t be so stupid. You can’t just let me get out of here can you? Have to ask questions and drag this on further. I was trying to make this easy but if you’re going to be the tough one, then I’ll just have to be honest then, won’t I? I don’t love you. Never did. Never could. I know what you were doing all this time so don’t try to play it like I was ever important to you. I broke your spell, Tsukishima so just let it go.” Riruka knew what this man’s Fullbring could do to some people and right now she was going to play at that even if it might not be true. Making this all up on the spot was pretty difficult and even confusing but Riruka had to say something in order to make him try to believe that she was leaving him. Her heart belonged to him and probably always would but she wasn’t going to allow those Soul Reapers to find him because of her doing. Tsukishima would be caught and probably killed for his crimes and she wouldn’t be able to live with that.
Brown eyes narrowed suspiciously on Riruka's face. Tsukishima shoved the emotions, trying so hard to rise up and consume his mind, away into a dark corner of his brain to be dealt with at a later time. He needed to think clearly, to analyze and contemplate, to examine every word and move Riruka was making, to heed the sharp intuition that had helped him so much in the past. Because in his gut, Tsukishima knew something wasn't right.
Even before Riruka stopped speaking, the ravenette suspected she was lying, acting. She's saying one thing, but her actions and reactions don't match up with the words. If she honestly 'knew' that I had manipulated her, then she'd be more upset, more angry and hurt, but she's acting more...disdainful and purposefully demeaning, both of which don't line up with her personality at all. And her eyes are closed off to me. She usually wears her emotions clearly there, especially when she wants people to know her displeasure. She was also pretty aggravated that I was asking questions. What does she have to hide? Why push me away? If I assume she feels the same as she did just yesterday, what motive might she have? If she still loves me, what would make her want to keep me away?
Using his Fullbring to his advantage, Tsukishima used his accelerated speed to appear behind Riruka before she could move and wrapped his arms securely around her waist. His breath whispered across the shell of his ear. "You know, it's not a very smart idea to lie to an accomplished liar, Riruka, darling. You and I both know that my Fullbring has never come into play where our relationship is concerned. So what brought this on, huh? Did something spook you, darling? Are you having doubts? I'm not letting you go until I feel that you're telling me the truth, so you may as well save us both the trouble."

288. "You reap what you sow.”
They had found him. Tsukishima was aware of their presence in his mansion, hiding in wait for him to come home. While the large building was his domain, and he had no doubt there was a decent chance of his winning the fight, the ravenette couldn't afford to risk that chance. He had to warn Riruka...
The ground flew by beneath him as Tsukishima used his Fullbring to hide his passage and increase his speed to dizzying levels. Finally, he stood outside Riruka's window, throwing it open and slipping in to press a hand over her mouth before any surprised sounds could escape.
"Shhh, it's me," Tsukishima murmured the words by Riruka's ear waiting for her to calm before allowing his hand to be pulled away. "The shinigami and Ichigo's friends found the mansion. I don't know if there is anything that may suggest your presence there, so be prepared for anything...You know that I have to leave, Riruka..because you reap what you sow and with my past, well, I haven't exactly sowed the best foundation here." He paused to cup her face and tilt it up to look in her eyes sadly. "I..don't know if or even when I'll be able to return, my darling. I'm sorry for that, but.." Tsukishima hesitated. "I can take the memories away, if you'd find it easier that way, Riruka. I wouldn't blame you for it."
"Loving you was a mistake."
Tsukishima's face was carefully calm, although inside he was currently alarmed and very confused. He had no clue what had prompted those words; he'd been on his best behavior since their relationship had developed. "Riruka. I..I'm surprised you would say such a thing. What brought this on? Why do you consider our love a mistake?"
"Don't die... Don't die on me. Please..."
As Tsukishima lay, bleeding and beaten on the ground, he never lost his calm smile. His brown eyes were composed and pain free when he looked into Riruka's magenta eyes. A single hand rose to stroke her cheek as she kneeled by him; he had enough strength left for that at least. The only indication of his weakness was the soft hoarseness that claimed his voice.
"I wouldn't dream of it, Riruka...Go..and get somebody to patch me up, would you? I'll be here when you return...I promise." The words were spoken slower than usual out of necessity and when the raven-locked male had finished speaking, he let his arm fall back to rest beside him before letting his eyes fall shut. He would survive, of that he was sure, but the blood loss was quickly affecting him. He needed to concentrate to keep his heart rate slow and breathing even. "Go on," he murmured when Riruka didn't leave right away. Slipping into a meditative state, he blocked out the world as he focused on living.
