Outdoor Adventure-Brooks Pictures
My parents built this grape arbor from scratch, concord grapes are the best!
The field outside my house with an old rabbit hutch we haven’t used in years.
My sister’s overgrown garden, lots of biodiversity here! Also, stop mowing your lawns!!!
This is a huge wild Jewelweed bush, and they hide something really interesting if you only take a closer look!
Regular old seed pod, right?
Boom! If you gently roll them in your hand or push your thumb down on them, they EXPLODE, scattering their seeds all around the ground! This is why another word for this family of flowers is “Touch-me-Nots” There are a few species of caterpillar that feed on them; you can find really funny videos of caterpillars eating them and then getting flung when the seed explodes, only to crawl back up to the bush and start munching again!
Fuzzy bumble bee butt!

I enjoyed taking pictures of nature around my house that I don’t usually look at. Being close to nature is part of the reason my family bought this house. I love that I got to grow up out here rather than in town or in a city somewhere. I get to here the songs of various species of birds and insects and interact with a variety of wildflowers and other wild plants. There were a few little chunky bumblebees around a few of these flower bushes that I loved watching. I’m not scared of bees, I love them! Now, wasps on the other hand....not so much!
Also friendly reminder that cut lawns lack biodiversity and are a totally outdated concept, stop mowing your lawns like 17th century lords! Embrace native biodiversity, attract pollinators! Save the bees doesn’t mean naturalized* European honeybees, it means all bees and other pollinators!
*Naturalized means invasive species that has now found a place in the ecosystem without causing damage to the environment or native species
My Habitat
If you are a hermit like me and hate to go outside now featuring a thermometer for your room so you know how warm it is. I included my bed because we as humans spend at least a third of our life with it. Sometimes more or less just depending on how much sleep you get. Also that blanket is there for my favorite little kitty cat to lay next to me while I do schoolwork or what else I may do.
I love how open the land is around my house. The garden has finished, so we planted something new. The crops are grown, waiting for the farmer to pick up their yield. The old RV is stuck in the back, blocking my path to the space where I once made a really weird French music video. The sun is shining, yet the turned leaves of the tree tell me rain is coming. I look across the street to see the cows laying down as well. As time goes, the sky darkens ever so slightly - guess it's time to see if the trees and cows are correct!
Try Setting
Two summers ago(July 2019), my family and I went on a cruise to Alaska. It was the MOST beautiful place I have ever seen in my life. I really want to visit there again or maybe move there. All of these pictures hold such good memories, because the trip was just so good. Alaska is an immaculate place that has gorgeous mountains and wildlife. (I took all the pictures except the ones of me lol, those were my mom.) I really just love these pictures and I like showing them to anyone I can.
The second picture is seals actually in their natural environment (like it’s not a zoo, I don’t know why but that just blows my mind)
The third picture is me standing on our balcony in front of a glacier.
I also want to point out the flowers in the 4th and 5th pics! They are ginormous! They get so big because of all the extra sunlight they get in the summer.

Camping
Last fall, a friend and I visited our city’s nature center to take photos for an art class project. There were plenty of manufactured trails and sitting areas, but I loved being surrounded by the woods in a largely-undisturbed space.
Every picture here is from my office, the place I definitely spend most of my time. My laptop has its own because there have been countless times I have engrossed myself in the digital art program i use on that thing. I spend a little too much time on it sometimes. Same goes for my VR headset. A portal to many different settings and something I've used to keep sane ever since this friggin pandemic started. The shelf has the most meaning of anything in this set of pictures though. It may look like junk, but 90 percent of everything on that shelf has meaning to me. It’s one of my most prized collections.
