Au where Ash is an ultra beast (aka, Nebby.)
He pops out of an ultra wormhole after some of the aether foundation's tests, and immediately bumps into Gladion. Who hasn't run away from home yet but Is really, really close. Like a day away from snatching Type: Null.
Obviously Gladion is deeply disturbed and does not like Ash at first. But Ash wins him over.
So it turns into Gladion trying to hide Ash from 1, his mother, for fear she would experiment on him like she does Type: Null. And 2, his sister, who hasn't really seen past their mother's facade yet and he's certain Lillie would tell her.
Of course, Ash immediately teleports infront of Lillie and they immediately become besties. And while Lillie doesn't understand why Gladion is so stressed about their mother finding Ash, she keeps it from her mother due to how serious Gladion is.
Of course when Ash is found by Lusamine....
