Another thing about this scene is the lyrics “You say you are not afraid to die.” come in and we get a shot of Mel’s face looking on wards to the Noxtoraa. Which is a monument to symbolize that the land belongs to Noxus through conquest. We pan to Mel’s expression as she gathers her courage. The path in front of her is certainly dangerous and since she knows the black rose is probably waiting for her. The lyrics are a direct reference to that.

The Wolf with the Medarda symbol on its head symbolizing Mel. She became the wolf after her mother’s death. (you could argue she always was since she is the chosen of the wolf but she has just recently stepped into that power.)  For me this just reaffirms she is the wold now and she is no longer running from her past and confronting it head on (as if there wasn’t enough evidence)

Vladimir also mentions it in the after credits scene.

The lyrics go “But take off the armor ’round your chest. What’s left inside?”.  This is a setup for the next scene because right after this we see the symbol of Might from the Trifarix which is Darius. Then we transition to him in all his armored glory. And later on in the cinematic this armor gets shredded to pieces by Trundle. What’s left inside is really that, Might. The might to get over the pain and defeat your enemies with unrelenting will. Which I think is really poetic and the answer to the rhetorical question posed by the song.

“Lye-luh-lion licking your blade” referencing the general who has fought countless battles and is going for another one.

“Tell you a secret, right as your dogs are closing in” just as Darius makes a move and closes in on his opponent. This is also interesting to me because of the connection Darius had with wolves in another really old cinematic titled ‘fear’. It might be a throwback to that as well. Similarly Katarina closing in on her target 

“I like it when the bitemarks cut through the skin” right as Mel walks through the Noxtoraa. This just makes me think of how the Noxians leave their ‘bite marks’ in every territory conquered via these big monuments.

Leblanc is watching as the camera perspective frames the ballroom like an eye. I also would like to remark the additional melody right as we get this shot. The music gets more of a ballroomy dance vibe. I wish I had more musical knowledge to explain this but it is really cool.

Also I heard in a video that the cloaks may be a reference to the minions in League , which is so cute.

“Tell me the walls are closing in” Right as the ink shows a spider closing in on Katarina.

“Taste the pain and drink it in.” And immediately after Elise spurts out poison.

Again getting more literal with the lyrics. “I like it when the bitemarks cut through the skin” as Darius’ axe cuts through the ‘skin’ of Trundle’s true eyes club (Which shouldn’t be possible since True Ice weapons cannot be destroyed or melt but the lore is changing so…)

A moment of appreciation for the absolute madlad that darius is. Going in hand to hand combat with a troll.

 (then gets his ass handed to him but again what did he expect?)

Again, his armor gets torn from his chest as I ‘ve said before.

“One seat on a throne, one foot in the grave.” Again, very literally with the shots. Showing the history and triumphs of Noxus. Also the way the shots are framed as we look up towards the Noxtorra, the glorious history.

and then back to Mel the camera at ground level. Noxus is made to look bigger, higher and us or Mel made to look insignificant, close to the ground. “One foot in the grave.”

Mel has obvious fears about this journey. I think the shot that is upwards is supposed to represent Mel’s perspective and her feeling the looming presence of Noxus. She feels this is greater than her and is above her level. But again I might be reading too much into this.

“Lou-louder the moth, then the bigger the flame.” She is being louder by searching for answers. They are already aware she is in Noxus. And then in the next shots the sun behind her, ‘the flame’,  transforms to the looming energy, the light of the immortal bastion.

Katarina following her target and just being a badass in general.

Her target’s blood in the form of coins. Hinting that she collected her bounty and a funny reference is the gold you get when you kill someone in League.

“I like it when the bitemarks cut through the skin.” Right as Mel throws the statue head at the doors of the bastion. Cutting through its ‘skin’.
