There are comparisons with their characters but it's surface-level because of genre differences. Both Lestat and Ilya are blond European bisexuals who are confident and witty and fall in love with a North American man of colour.
But the reason people say Connor Storrie could play Victor/Lestat's son is because of what Connor looked like a few years ago. He had shoulder-length hair that was blonder when it was like that, much more similar to what Sam looks like as season 3 Lestat. He did a photoshoot where he really looks like a younger version of season 3 Lestat. He is also fluent in French because he went on a study abroad program in France when he was in high school. He spoke French in a movie he did when he had that long hair.
He is also 25 which makes Sam 13 years older than him. And he was also born in February so it's pretty much exactly 13 years between them. So playing father/son is not that outrageous. So I feel like that's why people are making comparisons.
I didn't know that he spoke French! That's cool.
I - - mm. Like, I've seen the photoshoot you're talking about - it's highkey been inescapable on tumblr, even after blacklisting the HR tags, and I don't know. I see it a little in the styling of that one shoot, but I don't see it in their actual looks at all. I personally think their faces and broader energies seem to be pretty different.
It could be the age difference (although I weep at people saying a 13-year age gap is enough to cast actors as father-and-son), but I don't think it's that deep for people. I think you can count queer media on one hand and people saw blond and bi and then saw the photoshoot with that styling and drew a line where - in my opinion - there wasn't one.
I think it's all pretty harmless though, so in saying I don't see it, I hope the people who do are having fun. :-)
