Real time tumbling: cartoline dalla Puglia
Trulli are traditional stone dwellings found primarily in the region of Puglia, southern Italy—especially in the town of Alberobello, which is famous for its dense concentration of them. These structures are instantly recognizable by their conical roofs, built entirely without mortar using a prehistoric technique called dry stone masonry.
Originally, trulli were used as temporary field shelters or permanent homes for agricultural workers. Despite their rustic appearance, they’re ingeniously designed: the thick stone walls provide insulation, keeping the interior cool in summer and warm in winter, and the layered roofs help with water drainage.
