It sounds impossible, is what it sounds like.
With his lycanthropy, there was no way Remus would be able to travel like that. He would put too many innocent people at risk, transforming every month, with no guaranteed, secure, safe place to lock himself away. Not to mention what would happen to him - to both of them - if he did get caught, or hurt someone. Travel was expensive, and unlike Sirius, he doesn’t have an uncle ready to will him a small fortune to fund an extravagant trip. Where would they stay? What would they eat? How would they take care of themselves? What would he tell his mother?! Remus didn’t even have a passport-
But... it’s nice, to daydream. Even nicer, when it seems like every conversation manages to make its way back to the bleak future that seems to be waiting for them beyond the school grounds, ready to swallow them whole as soon as they graduate. Nicer still, when the subject of his daydreams has his head in his lap, completely content to indulge in even Remus’ most unrealistic fantasies.Â
Remus smiles down at Sirius, his fingers busying themselves with thick, black hair. “I’ve never been to the continent, I want to see everything. Museums, castles, libraries, cathedrals - all of it. I want to sit in front of paintings in the Louvre for hours. I want to ride on gondolas in Venice, spend a whole week in Amsterdam getting lost with you-
“And...” It’s so ridiculously impractical, for the lifestyle Sirius is setting them up for. But, this is just as much his fantasy-future. He’s allowed to have this one thing. It’s all pretend, anyway. “I want to buy a book, in every city or village we visit. No matter how small, even if I can’t read the language. I’ll bring along a separate trunk, just for books.”
