Summary:

When the Spider Ungoliant spun her webs of darkness beyond dark, and Morgoth struck the Two Trees of Valinor with his cruel black spear, for a moment that Light and Unlight mingled upon the hill of Corollairë; and then the Two Trees fell, and were gone from the world, save for their memory which lingered ever in elvish hearts.

But even now, several thousand years since Laurelin and Telperion fell, one pale tree nearby that hill remains. It is to those dry boughs that Finrod Felagund leads Gimli Elf-friend, in the waning golden sunlight of Aman.

Summary:

Long has Celebrimbor held himself as an elf apart, leery of the romantic entanglements of his peers; but when Narvi of Khazad-dûm proposes a dwarven marriage, his heart stirs at that thought for the first time with joy instead of dismay and fear.

But elves and dwarves were not made to wed: all know this, from the youngest apprentice of Ost-in-Edhil to the wisest of the Wise, even unto Galadriel herself. And Celebrimbor does not want an elvish marriage. Can they still cleave their hearts together when all the world tells them they should not; tells them that their love is unworthy and untrue?

And if they do, is it possible that in the doing they might find a way forward that offers a hope that things for the Gwaith-i-Mírdain might end a little bit better than they did before?

Summary:

The friendship that grew between Legolas the Elf and Gimli the Dwarf over the course of the War of the Ring is a thing of tales and stories: widely known, and widely wondered at. They bridged centuries of enmity between their two peoples to learn to see one another with clear eyes, and to love that which they saw.

But ever has there been a last length of distance between them—one final barrier that stopped their hearts from meeting fully, whole and unfettered. Perhaps it is a distance that cannot be breached: the natural gap in understanding that lies between elf and dwarf.

Or perhaps it was a distance that one heart placed there deliberately in hopes to safeguard the other.

Now, with Aragorn dead and the Fellowship reduced at last to two, they can either find the courage to cross that distance—or accept that they never will.

For the gulls are calling, and they are running out of time.
