Jim dodges the flames that were spewed by a moving statue, then deflecting two arrows that were heading towards him.Â
âAlways be afraid. Fear heightens your senses. Fear keeps you aliveâ Blinky recites the first rule of being the Trollhunter.
Leaning confidently on his sword, Jim smirks. Only to get hit in the back by a metal ball. He falls to the ground near Blinkyâs feet.
âArrogance gets you killedâ Blinky adds in a somewhat stern voice.
âYeah, I'll have to remember thatâ Jim groans, lifting his face off the ground.
Blinky picks the boy up and sets him back on his feet, pushing him to continue training. âDraal, however, does not fear you. That will be his weakness, but not you. You'll be wetting your armor. That will be your strengthâ
Jim swings his sword around, hitting the metal balls that were shot at him.
Meanwhile, Toby was standing next to Aaarrrgghh, doing squads. âOh, yeah. Looking good, Jimbo. Feel the burn! - If Jim's getting fit, I'm getting fitâ He shows off a tracker he had around hisÂ
(Y/n) looks up from the Troll history book, eyeing the tracker. âWhatâs that?â She asks him.Â
âItâs a tracker my Nana got me.â Toby answers, the tracker beeping again. âDonât want to be too bigâ
Aaarrrgghh frowns, looking at his own massive hand. Toby quickly adds: âNot that there's anything wrong with being big. But if I'm gonna have Jim's back, I gotta be nimbleâ. The Troll smiles, mimicking Tobyâs exercising moves.
After Jim finishes training, they all gather in the middle of the arena. Draal walks past with another Troll. âLook it's trainingâ He says mockingly, letting out a growl towards Jim. âCuteâ
As the two walk off, seeming to talk about something in Troll language.
(Y/n) glares at their retreating frames, feeling anger boil in her. She didn't even notice her hair starting to float again until Toby jabs her in the side, making her snap out of it.
âLet your fear keep you alive. Let his arrogance lead him astray. Defeat him and you'll make historyâ Blinky advises Jim, leading him away from the training area.

âI know contemporary media might lead you to believe European history is full of swords, sorcery, and scandal. I assure you, the truth is far more interesting, and there's no better place to start than Renaissance Era potteryâ The woman, who works at the Museum the class was visiting, explains.
Most of the kids looked bored, even Strickler himself. Eli looked absolutely ecstatic, while (Y/n) looked curious.
âSince we have limited time, Ms. Nomura, perhaps it's best if they explore the museum on their own. Don't you think?â Strickler proposes, perhaps doing it for his own sanity.
In the blink of an eye, almost all students had run off inside. (Y/n) was left behind, she gave an awkward smile at the two adults before shuffling into the museum.
She walks through the museum, it seemed her classmates were more further in as this part was deserted. She enters the England middle ages section, filled with armor, paintings and vases.
Then she spotted a book in a glass case. She approaches it, taking a good look at it. There were familiar words and even more familiar doodles on the pages. âMy spell bookâ She thinks, reading one of the spells.
âInterest in magic?â Nomuraâs voice chimes behind her, scaring the absolute life out of the girl. âResearchers suspect that this may have been written in an ancient language or magic spells. But that doesn't exist, right?â Her scary green eyes almost glowed at how intense they were.
(Y/n) quickly shakes her head. âYeah, of course. Crazy if it did. Oh I think I hear my friends, bye maâam!â She rushes off to where she heard talking.
She finds her classmates on the second floor, seeming to be 14th century. She spots Claire and Steve looking at a dress in a large glass case. She makes a funny face that only Claire could see, the girl notices it and chuckles. Steve looks behind him, confused, but sees nothing.
â(Y/n)! (Y/n)! Over here!â She hears someone call her name, she looks towards the direction to see Eli trying to get her attention. He waves his hand around with a phone in his other hand.
She walks over to him, a small smile on her face. âHey Eli, do you need anything?â She asks, taking a peek at his phone.
âLook at this!â He shoves his phone in the girlâs face. She takes a step back, taking a good look at the screen. A photo of a dead goblin, seeming to be hit by a vehicle.
Her (e/c) eyes slightly grow wide, recognizing the green creature. âGoblins, great. Too bad those pests didnât die out these last few centuriesâ. âOh woah, interestingâ She says through gritted teeth.
Toby swoops in and snatches Eliâs phone from his hand. âHey, Eli, can I see your phone real quick?â He pretends he âaccidentallyâ clicked on the delete button. âOh, darnâ
Grabbing the phone back, Eli looks down at his phone, disappointed. âWhat the heck? You deleted it?âÂ
âDarn these stubby little fingers. If it's any consolation, I believed youâ Toby chuckles, offering a bit of comfort. But gets distracted by his tracker beeping.
âHey Eli, how about we keep this between usâ (Y/n) chimes, putting his index finger to her lips. âThose creatures could be listening, they probably donât want you to knowâ
Eli lights up, nodding. âYeah, between us. Iâm gonna look for more evidenceâ He walks off, looking around for anything suspicious.
Unable to keep it in, (Y/n) lets out a chuckle. She found the boyâs hijinks amusing, but she still hoped that he wouldnât get hurt.
Ëââ§ê°á â à»ê± â§âË
âVoila!â Toby exclaims, presenting the dead goblin.Â
âNot voila. Goblinâ Aaarrrgghh corrects him.
âGoblin?â Jim repeats, poking the corpse with a stick.
âRuthless tricksters. Petty street vandals who leave a wake of destruction. This is not goodâ Blinky describes the green little menaces.
Jim gets up from his crouching position, throwing away the stick. âWell, justice was served. We should get back and train for Draalâ He concludes, putting his hand together.
âItâs not that simpleâ (Y/n) cuts in, looking down at the puddle of green on the road. She remembers that goblins would always be in groups, sneaking into the kingdom to steal all sorts of things.
âOh, no, Master Jim. Where there is one, there is many. And, as for the unfortunate soul who ran over this small fellow, may Skaargen's swift blade have mercy!â Blinky spits in his two upper hands, rubbing them together. Then putting one of them on his chest and the other on his back.Â
âAnd why is that?â Jim asks.
âNaturally, goblin payback is ten-foldâ Blinky answers, holding up two of his hands with the addition of one finger on his other two hands.
(Y/n) approaches the door, taking off the note. She walks back, squinting at the letters. âIt saysâŠuh delivery, 8 pmâ
Toby gasps. âThe delivery driver mustâve squashed the goblinâ He concludes.
âThen weâll be here at 8, we need to be here. I'm not gonna let some poor guy become goblin chow on my watch "Jim determines, ready to face the gross creatures.
âMaster Jim, answering the call!â Blinky cheers.
âSo cool. Stakeout!â Toby chuckles âPast my curfew!â
Ëââ§ê°á â à»ê± â§âË
The next day they hide in the bushes on the other side of the street, watching Eliâs house with a close house. It was almost 8 oâ clock and not a sign of the goblins.
âIt's already nine o'clock. Ugh. It appears the only thing being delivered is failed expectationsâ Blinky complains, crossing his arms.
âAt least, no sign of goblinsâ Jim responds. He hands over his binoculars to (Y/n) to grab his walkie talkie âHey, Tobes, all clear. How's it going over there?â
The girl looks puzzled at the object, confused about what it actually did. She does it different ways before finding out she had to look from the small side. She noticed Jim giving her a perplexed look, to which she awkwardly smiles.
âAll good in the hood, Trollhunter, except I can't stop moving. My love of stakeouts is being ruined by my overwhelming need to obtain swag. - Other than that, nothing unusualâ Tobyâs voice comes through the trinket Jim was holding, along with pants. Him and Aaarrrgghh were only a few meters away, hiding behind a fence. âWar Hammer outâ
âWar Hammer to Trollhunter, the package has arrivedâ Toby mentions, the delivery truck pulling up to the house. The delivery guy gets out of the truck and retrieves a package, proceeding to immediately drop it and the contents shatter.
âLet's get him out of here before it's too lateâ Jim instructs.
(Y/n) notices one of the street lanterns going out, she looks over with the binoculars. A Goblin breaking it, followed by others doing the same. âTheyâre hereâ she says.
A group of goblins emerge from the must, lead by a Goblin who had a mustache drawn on.Â
âHis fate has already been sealedâ Blinky reduces, finding the situation hopeless.Â
âNo, I'm not gonna let an innocent person-â Jim stands up, about to walk over there and confront the creatures.
Blinky quickly tackles him to the ground before he could do anything. âGreat trouble! There appears to be far more than I had anticipatedâ He grabs the walkie talkie, âStay down and don't make a sound. In their frenzied state, they'll attack any in their pathâ He tells Aaarrrgghh and Toby.
The delivery guy rings the doorbell and proceeds to drop the package again. The door opens, revealing Eli who accepts the package. The delivery guy walks into the house, leaving the vehicle unguarded.
âBut that's Eli! He's in my classâ Jim argues.
âHe was in your classâ Blinky corrects, placing his hand on the Trollhunterâs shoulders.
âWait, they're not after the delivery guy, look!â (Y/n) points to the goblins, the hoard stalking towards the delivery truck. The creatures began to eat the metal of the vehicle, leaving nothing behind.
âUnexpected. Their dispute isn't with the driver at all, but rather the transportation that had flattened their kinsman. Ooh, you must not be afraid, Master Jimâ Blinky realises, he tells the boy.
âI thought the first rule of trollhunting was to always be afraidâ Jim questions him, remembering what he said the day they met.
âTrolls. Not goblinsâ Aaarrrgghh clarifies.
âGoblins crave the pheromone of terror, an odor you appear to be releasing quite generouslyâ Blinky explains, giving the teen an odd look.
âWait! This is too much. You mean, they can smell fear?â Toby smells his armpit, his eyes widening. âOh, no! I can smell it, tooâ
âThen stop, or they will eat you!â Blinky yells at the walkie talkie, getting a tell in return.
Some of the goblins stand up, sniffing the air. They turn around, spotting the three in the bushes.
âPerhaps I made my point too loud. Run!â Blinky exclaims, before booking it. (Y/n) grabs Jim's hand, running after Blinky.
The goblins speed after them, looking like a certain fast rodent. Aaarrrgghh toshes Toby into his back, chasing after the goblins and his friends.
Suddenly, the amulet begins to glow. Jim grabs it out of his pocket, the magical object flying to his chest, making the armor appear. (Y/n) stumbles a bit by the sudden increase in weight.
âNow is not the time for armor! It'll only slow you down!â Blinky yells at him.
âYou think I'm trying to do this?â Jim yells back, struggling to keep up with (Y/n) and Blinky.
âYour armor is responding to your emotional state! Control your fear, or you'll be dinner!â Blinky explains in a panicked manner.
âJust breathe and relaxâ the young witch suggested. âNevermind, I canât do that eitherâ she shakes her head.
Jim begins to slow down more, having to let go of her hand as he couldnât keep up anymore. âIt's so, so heavy!â He gets tackled to the ground by the goblins.Â
He was luckily saved by Aaarrrgghh pulling him up and throwing the boy onto his large back, next to Toby. He smacks the goblins away, keeping up with the two friends in front of him. Jimâs armor disappeared as he relaxed a bit.
Tobyâs tracker beeps, making the Teen look at it. âOh, my gosh! I just got a free t-shirt! - This is so much cardio!â He exclaims. He proceeded to get snatched by one of the Goblins and being pulled off of Aaarrrgghh, Jim just brought in time to grab onto his leg.
âGet it off, get it off, get it off!â Toby yells as the Goblin tugs at the tracker. The green creature flies off when the tracker comes loose and off of Tobyâs wrist.
âWe need to find refuge!â Blinky tells the others.
âTrollmarket?â (Y/n) suggests, being the only place she could think of.
Blinky shakes his head âItâs too far awayâ.
âCut through these backyards. We'll get to my houseâ Toby points to the left towards a bunch of bushes. They took a sharp turn and ran straight into it.
They are met with a fence. Aaarrrgghh takes Toby and Jim off his back and places them on the other side âUp and overâ. Then picking Blinky and (Y/n) up and doing the same. Finally climbing over it himself.
They run to the back door. Toby twists the door knob only to realise it was locked, so he reaches for the keys in his pocket.
âCome on, come on! Hurry, Tobes!â
âDon't rush me!â Toby responds, twisting the key.
Seeing the Goblins getting too close for comfort. (Y/n) pushes Toby aside and places her hand on the door knob. âNepo wonâ she whispers. The door unlocks and flies open. âCome on!â
They rush in, only for Aaarrrgghh to get stuck in the doorway âUh ohâ. Thinking quickly, Toby turns the light outside the door on. It successfully scared away the goblins as they hissed in pain.
âThank gosh for Nana's anti-burglar maniaâ Toby sighs in relief, leaning against the fridge.
âToby-pie! Is that you?â An elderly womanâs voice could be heard from upstairs.
âDon't mind us, Nana. We'll just be in my room. Binge-watch another show and keep the cats insideâ Toby yells back, motioning for the others to go upstairs.
âToby pie?â (Y/n) repeats with a raised eyebrow, slightly amused at the nickname.
Toby ignores the comments. âWhat was the door thing you did, just there?â He asks, he awkwardly moves his hands around. âIs it like that hair floating, what else can you do?â
âProbably able to turn you into a frog if you get too curiousâ (Y/n) warns, teasing him. The boy looks at her with wide eyes, before rushing upstairs.
Ëââ§ê°á â à»ê± â§âË
They arrived at Tobyâs room. (Y/n) and Toby sit on his bed, while Aaarrrgghh eats his vhs tapes. They watch as Blinky and Jim pace around each other.
âI'm sorry to say, Master Jim, but your town is infested with goblins!â Blinky grabs the young Trollhunter by the shoulder and shakes him.
Jim shakes off the trollâs hands, âOkay, trolls, I can deal with because, at least, trolls stay underground. But goblins? I don't even have the bandwidth to-â
âJim, we gotta get my Chubby Tracker back. As long as they've got it, they're just gonna get stronger and fasterâ Toby mentions, missing his exercise trinket.
âI think they would just get free T-shirts from itâ (Y/n) argues, not really caring about it.
âMust find denâ Aaarrrgghh states, before chomping another tape.
âYes, and eradicate them at once before they seek their revenge!â Blinky warns. They already knew what the Goblins were capable of.
âRevenge?â Jim repeats, he sits down on the bed between his two friends.Â
âOn you three. And they now know where Tobias livesâ
âSo, we find their den. You must have some ideaâ Jim suggests, questioning his mentor.
âHaven't the foggiest. It could be anywhereâ Blinky responds.
âThey donât come out during the day, meaning they reside in their den during those hours. A place close enough to town but where people don't comeâ (Y/n) theorizes, but it was too little to work with.
Before she could go any further, they heard high pitched chatter. Blinky turned and looked into the doll house that was standing against the wall. Where he saw the gnome sharing a meal with a doll. âGreat Gronka Morka! What is the gnome doing in this dollhouse?â
The teen witch turned to the boys with a surprised look. âYou didn't kill it?â.
âToby-pie? I don't recognize that voice. Who is that?â Tobyâs grandmother yells from downstairs.
âIt's a friend, Nana! I do have more than two!â Toby yells back, crossing his arms proudly.
âNo, you donâtâ Nana responds, making the confidence leave Tobyâs body.
âYou told me to take care of the gnome, so we're taking care of itâ Jim explains himself.
âThis is in direct violation of rule number two!â Blinky points at the boy âWhatever happened to finishing the fight?â
âAnd rule number one is to always be afraid, except if you're around goblins 'cause they smell fearâ Jim monologues, getting up from the bed. âYour rules make less sense than algebra, which oh, yeah I have in a few hours unless I get eaten by goblins tonightâ His little outburst makes the gnome hide away back in his house.
âI'm sorry. I'm no good at understanding your rules. I'm not ready for Draal, Bular, or finding a stupid den of goblinsâ Jim sighs, frowning.
âAs your trainer, I can only advise, not make your decisions. I understand. You're humanâ Blinky places two of his hands on Jim's shoulders before leading to sit back on the bed. âYou're learning the rules in your own way. Aaarrrgghh and I will seek out this den, wherever it may be. You just focus on your studies. It seems life has thrown enough at you for one day. But a gnome in a dollhouse?!â
His last remark made the boys sheepishly grin.
Ëââ§ê°á â à»ê± â§âË
(Y/n) walks out of school, she pauses when she hears her phone going off. She pulls it out, notifications from Jim and Claire. When she first clicks on Claireâs contact, she is met with a photo of busted lips. âGot a ball from Jim in the face đ€â
The girl sighs, knowing that it was an accident. âHeâs terrible at impressing his crushâ she thinks, before clicking on Jimâs contact.Â
âWe found the Goblin nest!! Meet us at the museum at 8â
Ëââ§ê°á â à»ê± â§âË
The clock hits 7:50. After grabbing an empty backpack, (Y/n) slowly opens her window and climbs out of it. She grabs onto the edge of the roof and jumps down. She lets go and falls into her butt, âOwâŠâ she whispers.
She got up and began to walk towards the museum. She arrives at it, spotting Jim and Toby standing near some bushes.
The boys yell in surprise, (Y/n) tries to shush them. Jim grips his chest âJeez, (Y/n), donât sneak up on usâ
She looks up, seeing the Goblins disappear into the museum from the roof.
âLet's go tell the othersâ Jim suggests.
Toby gasps, pushing his friends into a nearby bush. âGet down!â
They peek their heads out from behind the plant, seeing a familiar woman walk into the building. âIt's the museum ladyâ
âShe has no idea it's infested. At any moment, they could strike! Or worse lay eggs in her earsâ Toby guesses, putting his hands over his ears.
âI don't think goblins do thatâ Jim responds, sceptical.
âAnywho. As much as she is creepy, we need to get her out of thereâ (Y/n) proposes to the others.
âGood idea, but cover your earsâ Toby agrees, covering his ears again.
Finding the doors locked, they find a different way in. Jim pushes one of the windows open, seeming unlocked.
âThis is breaking and enteringâ Toby argues, being against the idea of possibly committing a crime.
âNo, it's-it's breaking and rescuingâ Jim argues back, trying to make it sound less terrible. He pulls Tobyâs hands from his ears. âRelax. We're just gonna get her out of there, and then let Blinky and Aaarrrgghh handle the restâ
He climbs onto the window sill and holds his hand out. (Y/n) grabs it and climbs on with his help. They both jump down and wait for Toby to come through.
Toby comes stuck in the half open window, he awkwardly chuckles. He holds out both of his hands which the two grab. They pull out and the three of them fall onto the ground.
âJeez, this place gives me the creeps with the lights outâ Jim says, standing up while wiping the dust off of himself.
âIt was better when you could see the Neanderthalsâ Toby adds. Pointing back to something he said to Steve to distract him so Jim and Claire could talk.
(Y/n)âs eyes caught a sign âMedieval Englandâ and saw her chance. She speaks off, hoping that the other two wouldn't notice.
Ëââ§ê°á â à»ê± â§âË
She zips up her backpack, slinging it around her arm. She perks when she hears Toby and Jim screaming. âOh noâ She rushes towards the noise, pushing through curtains.
She sees Jim wearing his daylight armor fighting a Troll that resembles the museum lady. In a quick fashion she slashes two curved orange blades at it.
The girl notices a viking shield hanging on the wall. She takes off her backpack and takes the shield. âJim!â She jumps in between them, protecting him from the attacks.
â(Y/n)! Where have you been?â He questions her.
The witch turns her head back to look at him. âWellââ
âWatch out!â He pushes her aside when she sees Nomura aiming for (Y/n)âs head, he stops his blade with his own.
Toby grabs onto Nomuraâs long hair. Only for the mustache Goblin to jump onto him and Nomura shaking him off.
Jim slashes his sword at the changeling. She dodges and makes a hit on her own. Jim turns, (Y/n)âs shield taking the hit as they were leaning against each other's back.
Nomura hits Jim, making him hit the wall and accidentally letting a large blanket fall onto the floor. The wicked woman chuckles, thinking she had won. She walks into the large blanket, ready to finish the Trollhunter.
Finally taking his tracker back, Toby kicks the Goblin off. The creature lands on the blanket behind the Nomura.
âThis was fun. Now, you're historyâ She grins, kicking Jimâs Sword out of his hand. âAll that fancy armor and you're just a scared little boyâ She raises her blades, ready to strike.
Jim sees the Goblin sitting behind her and gets an idea. He grips the end of the blanket, âArrogance gets you killed!â He tells, pulling up the fabric.
The motion makes Nomura fly and fall onto the Goblin. She watched as a marker rolls from the dead goblin remains. The other goblins rush to the scene, finding their leader dead. One of the goblins picks up the marker and draws a mustache on himself. âWaka chaka!â
âNo, it wasn't me! No! No!â Nomura cries, walking back until her back hits a crate. The goblins rush at her with fury.
Toby takes a picture, while (Y/n) grabs her bag. âLet's get out of here!â Jim yells, grabbing his two friends by the hands and dragging them out of the museum.
They get onto their bikes, (Y/n) getting on behind Jim. They peddled as fast as they could away from the scene.
âHoly, What the? Her face! Did you?â Toby stutters, unable to finish his sentences.
âAnd that bridge! There were troll markings on itâ Jim adds.
Realisation comes into the (h/c)netteâs head as she remembers what Blinky told them and what she read in the troll book. âThe Killahead Bridge" she mutters.
They stop in the middle of the road, trying to take all in what just happened. âBridge? Who cares? There's a shapeshifting troll witch!â Toby exclaims.
âThey're walking among us, Tobes! They can be anyone! We need to tell Blinky and Aaarrrgghhâ Jim concludes, ready to head to Trollmarket.
âUh guysâ (Y/n) says, drawing their attention. She points to an approaching police car with its alarm and lights on.
âHands up!â The police officer commands.
Toby and Jim drop their bikes and the three of them raise their arms in the air.
âOn the ground, now!â
They get on the ground. âWhat did we do?â Toby questions.
âDispatch, we have the teens that match the description of the museum break-inâ The police officer says in his walkie-talkie, before turning to the three teens on the ground. âYou're coming with usâ
Ëââ§ê°á â à»ê± â§âË
âGet in the middle thereâ A police officer instructed, pointing at a wall which had heights in feet. (Y/n) stands in the middle with a board that had her full name on it. She stares at the machine called a camera. It flashes, binding her for a moment. Then she was instructed to turn left and right to show both sides.
Once done, she had to wait in the hall with Jim and Toby. She sat on a bright plastic chair with her bag on her lap.
â(Y/n) (L/n), your guardians are hereâ A voice announces. She gets up and walks out the door. There she found Mr and Mrs Nuñez talking to each other. When they notice her walking out, they rush over to her.
âAre you alright, did they do anything to you?â Mrs Nuñez asks, tilting (Y/n)âs head for any wound.
âThe goblins?â âWho are you talking about?â (Y/n) asks, curious and worried.
âThose boysâ Mr Nuñez answers. âDespicable of them to take advantage of a girl with amnesia. Go get in the car, we will deal with the restâÂ
They walk into the police station while Jim and Toby stroll out of it. The two adults glare at the teens, who avoid eye contact.
âSoâŠumâ Jim mumbles, not sure what to say.
âYeahâ Toby mutters, shrugging his shoulders.Â
âI'll see you at schoolâ (Y/n) says, making her way to her foster parentsâ car. She gets in, closing the door. She takes a quick glance at the boys, hugging her backpack.
Ëââ§ê°á â à»ê± â§âË
Barbara starts the car after scolding her and his friend. âThey told me a book was stolen, do you boys know anything about what?â
Jim and Toby look at each other, not having a clue.
Ëââ§ê°á â à»ê± â§âË
(Y/n) opens her bag, looking down at her spell book.
