INTRODUCING!!! Trinh Lê!!
Trinh is a Vietnamese immigrant living in upstate New York in 1982. She was brought to America in the first wave of immigrants flown away after the end of the Vietnam war. Since settling in New York, her parents gave birth to her younger brother completing her family of four. If Trinh was a real AG historical, her story would focus on the racism she experiences growing up in the early eighties at a time when asian immigrants were not widely accepted. She has to find a balance between fitting in with her primarily white american classmates and keeping true to her Vietnamese culture all while struggling in school due to a undiagnosed learning disorder and ADHD. Outside of school, she is fascinated by space and space travel. She spends most of her time at the library research everything there is to know about space and fantasizing over what might be out there in the vast universe.
I loved doing all the research for a Vietnamese 80s girl, and was pleasantly surprised to find a rich history associated with that population. I was disappointed w AGs choice for Courtney to be white, but I'm glad it gave me the drive to learn more about asian americans in the 80s anyway! I'll be posting a bit abt Trinh's journey to becoming Trinh from the incredibly loved #4 that arrived from goodwill, so look forward to that as well!!!
i did the right thing and finally gave nicolas a bf
A note on the desk. There's some mysterious burn marks on it. It reads: "Hello. You know about stands and the sort, yes? You think you can help a gal and a few of her friends? - Neasa Evsix" (Neasa of @trinh-dyo)
“Don’t know where this letter came from, but sure I guess, if you can hear me, wherever you are.”
