Progress Log 48
I cannot stop thinking about it. The old habit from years of collecting is rearing its head, and I cannot ignore the call any longer. Aside from getting up close and personal with the construct, Iâm convinced that there is some aspect of its design that can further my own means. Â
The construct was with Miles and Amy Rose. It can only mean that itâs at the Restoration Base.Â
Itâll be a brazen attempt, sneaking into such an active stronghold. Several observations in recent days, however, have suggested that thereâs a secret entrance. How secret it is remains to be seen, but itâs worth a shot.Â
Get in, grab the construct, and get out. I have the Tricore - ha! If I can stand my ground against Sonic and Shadow with it, Iâll have the construct in my grasp before the day is out.Â
Sincerely yours,Â
âď¸ Doctor Starline
@tricoresâ : yes, dr starline is painting some insignificant wooden toy that dr eggman â who now insists on going by mr tinker â has instructed him to paint. fortunately, his eye for precision and detail renders him rather good for otherwise tedious tasks like these.
it's been months and his palpable irritation at this situation ( that he could leave at any time, mind you ) has yet to fade. he's glaring at the toy as he paints it. "this is infuriating," he's muttering to himself â a habit not unusual for him â and is apparently unaware that he's no longer alone. "over four months spent in this quaint little town in the middle of nowhere, and with nothing to show for it to boot. all his labs and all that research practically rotting away..." // if i didn't send something for this au i'd literally die
Belle likes Dr. Starline.
Well, likes is probably overstating it. The scientist is rude, self - obsessed, convinced of his infallibility. Obsessed with a man who no longer exists ( who, belle tells herself, couldnât have ever existed, because imagining her father like that makes her want to cry ) and locked in a hopeless battle to revive him. But she likes him more than much of the rest of the village does, and thatâs why sheâs come to check in.
And with cookies!
Sheâs not sure if theyâre â good cookies, exactly. Robots donât eat. But they can follow directions quite well! And this recipe had come highly recommended from the neighbor for whom sheâd fixed their treehouse, so Belle expects theyâre probably pretty decent, at least.
She lets him rant a little, standing in the doorway, cookies in hand, before she realizes sheâs probably not going to stop â ever â did we mention SELF - OBSESSED? â and so she coughs loudly and, when the scientist turns to face her, smiles and asks, âcookies?â
Dr. Starline doesnât like her, sheâs fairly certain. Or, at least, he doesnât like most people. And sheâs one of the reasons that her father is still her father and not the madman heâs obsessed with. But he helps her, sometimes, if a job is proving difficult, and sometimes when she smiles at him he smiles back, just for a moment, like he forgot he wasnât supposed to.
And sometimes, like now, he grumbles something about twee nonsense, but he still takes a cookie.
Survival horror game Yuoni will launch both physically and digitally for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on August 19 in Japan with English language support, publisher Chorus Worldwide confirmed to Gematsu. Pre-orders are available now at retailers such as Amazon Japan and Yodobashi.
A digital release is also planned for Xbox Series, Xbox One, and PC via Steam in Japan. Chorus Worldwide was not able to confirm the release date for these versions, nor its worldwide release plans for any version outside of the existing âsummerâ release window.
The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions run in 4K resolution at 60 frames per second.
Here is an overview of the game, via Chorus Worldwide:
About
Yuoni is a first-person horror action game set in Japan in the year 1990. As Ai, a grade-schooler yet to realize how closed off she is, you are forced to play childrenâs games in a world of permanent dusk. There, Aiâs life hangs in the balance as you are attacked day after day by shadowy entities and eyeball monsters among other horrors. Eventually monsters start to bleed into the real world, where Ai discovers that she, tooâŚ
Key Features
Evolving Gameplay â Test your courage in a dangerous game of hide and seek before initiating a terrifyingly twisted version of tag with abominations not of this world. Use the items youâve gathered to flee your sunset hell, but be sure to remember the paths youâve taken or risk being trapped there forever.
Japanese Locations Ablaze with a Haunting, Beautiful Sunset â Experience an unnerving mix of beauty, fear and nostalgia in a mysterious world where a Japanese house, school and hospital are all inexplicably connected. Explore corridors dyed twilight crimson, witness the ethereal glow of amber through paper walls of a traditional Japanese house and escape creeping black shadows in hospital rooms where the power is somehow always out.
Hide or Die â 10-year-old Ai has no defensive measures to defeat the enemies you face; instead, you must take advantage of each spiritâs weaknesses to survive. Hold your breath to sneak past blind foes or dash past deaf ones as quick as your little legs can carry you. And if you canât get away in time, prepare to suffer a dire fate at the hands of unimaginable forces.
If Only There Were Another Way⌠â Upon clearing the game, another ending will become available to you. What story will this new path unveil? Slipping back into the terrifying world of Yuoni will see you face considerably more challenging foes for an even greater reward.

His mother is warm.
It is with a magnetic instinct that he recognizes this first fact, the gentle heat swaddling him completely, with a primordial sort of softness. Soon after comes the sound of her voice, the outline of her face, feathery curls he discovers in the course of his blind groping - they are all warm, too.
In the moments when she draws away, the world becomes a very cold place.
-
His mother is kind.
This he learns from the elderly chambermaid who stops by every so often to bring his mother baskets of bread and fruit and cheese (âbecause your mother doesnât eat properly, so you must make sure she does,â  she tells him), and occasionally, long dresses (âjust because your mother is a knight doesnât mean she isnât a lady"; though his mother doesnât seem to like wearing them). He learns it, too, from others who visit the small house they keep, at the edge of the woods; it's the first place they've stayed in for more than a year. All say the same thing (âyou are too kind") - to which his mother only smiles and shakes her head.
Normally, he wouldn't doubt his mother, but so many people insist it that he thinks it must be true.
-
His mother is strong.
This he learns from the other knights, who sometimes loiter at the front of the yard in their gleaming, jagged armor with their towering, snorting steeds.Â
His mother is not a tall woman, but her back is very straight, and she looks strong even beside the knights seated high on their horses.
There are things he hears the knights murmur when they think his mother isn't listening â many of them involve a rogue or a pirate or a criminal, for reasons he cannot fathom - and the things they say make him think that many of the knights arenât as brave or strong or smart as heâd once made them out to be.
-
His mother is broken.
This he learns on his own, gradually, and through careful observation.
Most girls cry when they are hurt â he learns this from the village girls, who trip over the hems of their skirts and scrape their knees, then burst into tears moments later. Most girls cry when they are sad, too - another lesson he learns from the same scraped-kneed girls. (They cry even harder when they find out that their boyfriends have been kissing other girls.)
His mother isnât like other women; the symptoms of her pain are different. When his mother bleeds, it is in utter silence, with lips pressed tight into a straight line.
He has never seen his mother cry.
He thinks that age must be bringing her more pain, because the older he gets, the quieter his mother becomes. More and more frequently, there are moments when he will catch his mother looking at him with a distant expression and her lips pressed into a straight line, saying nothing at all.
In these moments, he wonders if he is painful to look at.
