Prague Czech Republic
So I recently visited Prague , Czech Republic and had this delicious chimney cake or Trozkol, also called trdelník or trdlo. It is a kind of spit cake. For those who don’t know what spit cake is , spit cake is a European cake made with layers of dough or batter. Placed one at a time, onto a tapered cylindrical rotating spit. The dough is baked by an open fire (rotisserie-style). Generally, spit cakes are associated with celebrations such as weddings and Christmas. Trdelník as they call in in the Czech Republic is Topped with a mixture of sugar and walnut, or cinnamon. This location had a lot of options to stuff the cake with but I kept it classic with cinnamon and chocolate (pictures above). You will find many food stands that will sell you these cakes in the streets of Czech or Hungarian cities. 🍫 🇨🇿
