Kelly Preston
John Travolta on a vintage postcard
I rewatched Face/Off recently. No hate to John Travolta, but that movie really highlighted just how much of a gap in acting there is between him and Nicolas Cage. Travolta was definitely great when he was playing Castor Troy. But when he played Sean Archer…eh, I don’t think he did as quite a good job at selling “tortured, grief-stricken cop who wants revenge”. He just sounded more stiff than when he was Troy.
Meanwhile, Cage nailed both roles. When he was Troy, he was Troy. When he was Archer, he was Archer. Because of this, I felt that the movie ended up becoming more of a Cage starring vehicle than a Travolta one. Just my two cents on this really old 90s movie.
