You're pretty sure the entire team hates you. You were new on the team and it didn't seem like they were happy to have you, you can see it clearly. You see how Gaz can casually talk and joke with anyone on base, but he never talks to you, in fact once he even stopped talking when you walked in. Unlike Gaz, Soap does talk to you but the jokes he makes are at your expense, you're pretty certain he is subtly bullying you. Price rarely talks to you, and when he does it only about work and you swear he is disappointed in you even when you haven't done anything. And Ghost, oh he definitely hates, you could argue with yourself that you're just misunderstanding the others, but even with Ghost's face hidden you can tell he stares at you, honestly glares. Doesn't even talk at all if you're around, and on your first mission he out right asked Price if he had to be with you.
It was starting to get to you, you were sure something was going on, and what do you do when you're stressed, you start cooking. Some people stress clean, you stress cook/bake, it gives your mind and hands something to do, helps you calm down and think straight. So here you are still cooking after all night, normally you would only stress cook or bake for an hour or two, but you had just stayed up all night cooking and baking. The kitchen was less messy than one might expect, though there were lots of dishes out. There were food dishes covering the entire rec room table and even some on the counter that didn't have space on the table. And now you were panicking again, how would you put all the food away, and before they guys wake up. You were frantically opening cabinets trying to find containers to put food away, you couldn't find any. You looked back to the table, now realizing there was no way, even if you found containers there wouldn't be enough, and there was not enough room in the fridge. You were about to full on start panicking, which definitely would lead to more cooking/baking. And in your frantic searching and semi-panic you hadn't noticed the guys standing frozen in the hallway, just staring at the table.
Price was the first to get a grip, he pushed past the rest of them “ya cooking for a family or something kid?” Price asked, both joking and trying to understand why there was so much food. You immediately started apologizing “I’m so sorry, really I'm sorry. I don't know what happened. I was stressed last night so I started cooking, and I guess it got out of control. I'm sorry I didn't realize how long it had been or how much food I made. I promise I'll take care of it, I'll put it up right away” the words came spewing out, you tried to go pick up the food from the table but Price stopped you “hold on, are ya saying you stayed up all night, did you even eat” Price was just concerned but you thought he was scolding you “well no, I’m sorry sir, it wont affect my performance I promise. I won't stay up again” Price could tell you weren't really understanding him, he grabbed both your shoulders making you look at him “I’m not worried about that, I'm worried about you. If you're stressed you need to relax, and you definitely need to eat.” Price didn't let you argue, he pulled out a chair and helped you sit. You stared up at Price while he fixed you a plate “here you go, and stop stressing about the food, we can figure it out” you argued, a part of you still convinced he was mad or disappointed in you "I don't know what to do sir, there's nothing to put it in, and nowhere to put it” Price could see how you were starting to panic again, “love, I have three huge soldiers behind me who have never seen this much homemade food at once, it'll get eaten. Right now I need you to eat, because none of us are gonna eat until you've eaten something.”
And Price meant that, they sat at the table, but none of them even touched the food while you ate. Once you finished your first plate, Price gave you a whole another plate before he motioned for his men to eat. Which they immediately did, food stacked high on their plates, after their first serving you could already see a difference in the amount of food. You didn't think they'd want to eat something you made, but they all devoured their food, you swear you heard Soap moan. Not only did they eat but they complimented the food, every one of them. When Price finished, the others were now on their second or third plate, he pulled you to the side. “Next time you're stressed you come tell us. You'll never be part of the team if you keep to yourself all the time”
You looked up at him confused. “I thought you guys didn't want me around” Price shook his head “no love, you're just new so everyone's a little awkward around you, not sure what to say or joke about, and you didn't make much of an effort to join the team.” that… made sense for the most part but still “sure maybe that's true for you, Gaz, and Soap but Ghost? He hates me, doesn't trust me one bit” Price pointed to Ghost who was still devouring your food “he doesn’t hate you you were just new, and he definitely wouldn't be eating your food if he didn't trust you” you went to point out the time he directly asked to not be with you during a mission but somehow Price knew already “it took him months to trust us on the battlefield, he had just met you and you weren't really talking to any of us. Trust me luv he doesnt hate you but you're going to have to try if you want him to like you. We all had to put in the effort” you nodded “why don't you join us today, it'll be easier for everyone to get to know you” Price phrased it as a question but it wasn't, he headed back to the rest of the guys tugging you behind him.

Suicide Hotlines Don't Work, Love and Being Cared for Does.ᯓ★
Suicide attempt mentioned ! ! ! For all my lovelies who are thinking of attempting, this is for you, your dear Captain comforting you ♡(˃͈ ˂͈ )
"Sergeant L/N.", Price scolded, you kept standing behind the railing, staring at the view of the city, not turning back to loon at Price. You stared, empty, and exhausted.
"I don't think I'll be able to let you out of the base anymore. Climb the railing, get your arse over here, Y/N.", Price firmly said, glaring at your back.
"That's an order from your Captain, Sergeant.", for a few seconds, you didn't respond, but slowly, as if the world was on your shoulders, you climbed over the railing, moving to stand in front of Price.
"C'mon. We're getting you back home, you're taking a break from missions, alright? Don't need you wanting to harm yourself.", Price grabs your hand, kissing your cheek.
"I'm sorry, sir...", you mumbled, Price sighs, and frowns.
"Don't apologize, son. You've went through a lot, eh? Just don't do it again.", Price mumbled, dropping his jacket over your shoulders. "I'm new to your task force..and...I-...I'm already being a burden...I'm sorry, sir...I am..I-", Price shushes you, "Now, what did I just say?", you quietly nod, mumbling another 'sorry', out of habit, and you walk down the stairs with him, silently getting inside his jeep.
The days move by slowly. John tries to spend time with you, but you're at the inn by four in the morning and asleep by the time John gets home. Whenever you're both home at the same time, you watch him.
You don't seem to live in his home. You haunt it, hovering around corners, standing behind the couch like you need permission to sit down. John doesn't want to press you about how it was to live with your mom, but he knows what trauma looks like.
"Hey, kid, do you want to do something next week? There's a fair happening in the next town. It sounds like it would be fun." It had been two weeks since he'd talked with you, and one of the few rare nights he got home before you were asleep. You look up from the TV, fiddling with your blanket in your lap.
"How much is it?" You ask immediately, which made John raise an eyebrow. He could tell you were very independent. Since he hadn't taught you that, he wondered who had. And how.
"You're my kid, Y/N. And you live under my roof. You're still a kid, so I'll pay for you until you're an adult. And then some." John explains gruffly, but he can see the wheels turning in your head. "When's the last time you had a check-up kid?" He doesn't know why he asks, but when your eyes dart away from his face, his heart sinks.
"You don't have to pay for me."
"That's my job." The words hung heavy in the air, moments ticking by painfully until you sniffle and nod your head slowly. "Do you want to go to the fair, kid?"
"Please?" Whenever you spoke like that, so small and childlike, it broke his heart. You were young, too young to be so composed in the face of everything that happened. John sees the tears shining on your face, panic blooming in his chest.
He slowly walks across the room, sitting down beside you and pulling you into his side. Neither of you say anything. Just sit side by side with your heads bowed close together. He presses a kiss to your forehead, tucking your head under his chin.
"We'll go to the fair on Friday, okay? I promise."
"That sounds good. Thank you." John holds back telling you not to thank him. You needed a lot more help than he knew how to give you.
The fair wasn't busy just yet, so John found a perfect parking spot close to the entrance. The air was full of chatter, the smell of fried food, and loud music playing. You could feel yourself getting a little overwhelmed by the noise and movement, sticking close to John as he paid for all access wrist bands.
"You okay, kid?" John asks softly as he guides you into the fair, watching the way your eyes dart around the fair ground. "Oh, it's loud, huh?" He dug into the pocket of his jacket and unfolded some headphones. "Simon recommended I bring a pair of these, just in case."
You stare at the headphones for a moment, glaring up at him for a second. He looks at you in confusion, tilting his head slightly. He could tell, at least he suspected, that you were autistic, and judging by your face, your mom hadn't accommodated you properly.
"You can use them, kid. It's not a bad thing." He assures as he extends the headphones again. You take them with a hesitation that john hated to see, but at least you put them on. John wasn't keen on going on many of the rides, chuckling at your wide-eyed gaze. "Ever been to the fair before, kid?"
"No." You mumble, shuffling closer to him when a group of people rush by you. "Can I go on that one?" You point to the tilt-o-whirl, which makes John nauseous just by looking at it. But when he looks at your excited wide eyes, he can't help but give you a bushy smile.
"Yeah, kid. Let's go get in line."

Summary: You can't sleep, kept awake due to past trauma. So your lovers have their ways to calm you down
This fic has: traumatized!insomniac!reader, past sexual assault trauma, Lucifer + Vox + Alastor x reader. Implied PTSD!reader, fluffy content
You're awake. In bed. At 4 in the morning.
You can't sleep, not with the haunting feeling of something, something - someone touching you, your breathing gets shallow.
Trying to get away from it, you tear away the blankets that suffocate you, tumbling out of bed and onto the floor. You startle your lovers at first, but they settle, recognizing the haunted look on your face.
“I-I” you stutter far too much for your liking, you take a breath and start again. “I'm sorry. I just couldn't stand it - I could just.. feel. It.”
Lucifer is the first to move, sitting next to you but not touching. He learned not to touch the hard way.
You sniffle, watching as his face comes into view. His tilted his body at an awkward angle to look at you. He smiles softly, “it's not your fault, apple pie, I'm just sorry you have to go through this..”
Alastor joins you two, kneeling, with tissues to clean yourself up. And words of comfort.. in his own twisted way.
Lucifer gives you something to distract yourself if that doesn't work, and Vox?
He plays whatever music you want, no half-hearted complaining included, and offers deep pressure therapy in the form of hugs.
You don't sleep that night, but you do have a good time not remembering anything else for a while.
This author doesn't have a taglist yet, you can request to be on it though!
Notes: I wrote this because I couldn't sleep. Turns out writing your thoughts makes nights easier, folks! Also, I feel like Al would understand better, whether you like the "Al was abused as a kid!" Theory, I still think he'd get it, y'know? Cuz men in his time were horrible, and I can see him being a comfortable space for women to lean on (not literally lol) and talk to
Roommate!Spencer Reid x hypersexual! traumatized! reader
she/her is used, bras are mentioned! if anyone would like this with a gn or male reader, please lmk!
-The one where your roommate knows why you are the way you are, but no one else does.-
Authors note- {this wasn’t requested, it’s really just me projecting, but i hope this helps someone!}
TW-{plenty of sex mentions, talks of underwear, talks of smut (but no actual smut), talks of porn (nondescriptive, but reader watches it), sex as a coping mechanism, allusions to non-con, reader doesnt really want to be this way, reader is traumatized, but the trauma is nonspecific so you can self insert, use of y/n, reid is autism coded but thats just how i write him all the time, plenty of whore/slut usage, please dont read if being called a whore/slut triggers you, plenty of negative self talk, i feel the need to bring up the non-con again.nothing is described in detail but its heavily implied. please be safe when reading!}
1.2k, enjoy <3
Whore
Honestly you were so used to that comment. That's what everyone thought, even yourself most of the time.
Logically, you knew why you were like this. You had enough Psychology knowledge to understand the way trauma responses worked, and you knew full well that that's what this was.
But it was so much easier to just call yourself a slut and move on. You just liked it, you would tell yourself, It has nothing to do with anything they did to you.
So what if you wished you were innocent and naïve? So what if you wished you could just wear comfortable clothes? So what if you wished you weren't always thinking about sleeping with someone? So what if you wished you could erase every trace of porn from your memory? You were a whore, you couldn't change it, you couldn't excuse it.
Your roommate Spencer knew what people thought of you. He knew the rumors and he saw the glances. He didn't quite believe it all when he first moved in with you into your small shared apartment, but he quickly picked up on some of the signs.
There was that time when he offered to wash your clothes for you when you were sick. He didn't try to look, if anything he was putting them in the wash with his eyes half closed, but he couldn't help but notice that every one of your undergarments were frilly and lacey. Certainly you would get tired of wearing cute bras or own some underwear that wasn't a thong? Or maybe he just didn't know women as well as he thought? He brushed off that incident, until there were more.
Like when he looked through your bookshelf only to find every spicy scene highlighted or bookmarked. It wasn't his place to judge, and he didn't, but he could have sworn you said your favorite books were classic novels, and these certainly weren't.
Or when he found porn on your laptop. He, again, didn't judge, but he was confused. You would shutter at any sex scene on TV, and you couldn't stand the subject. Sure, people called you every name under the sun, but not Spencer. Spencer didn't think you were a slut, but he did think you were in pain. He just didn’t know how to bring it up to you, it certainly wasn’t roomate or coworker appropriate, it was barely even friend appropriate. There was a line he didn’t ever want to cross with you, in fear of making you uncomfortable, but he wanted nothing more than to help you.
I was a random friday when he somehow found the confidence, and audacity, to bring it up. You just got back from your afternoon run, in shorts that definetly showed more than you liked, and Spencer was cooking dinner for the two of you.
You untied your running shoes and placed them on the shoe rack near the door like you always do. You walked to the kitchen and basked in the lovely arauma, if their was anything you loved about being Reid’s roomate, it was definetly his cooking.
He told himself to be gentle, to not bring it up when it wasn’t the right time, but when has he ever held something important back?
“Do you like having sex?”
Woah, wow. That’s not how he meant that, but now it’s too far to go back. So he put the timer on for his water to come to a boil and he turned to face you and wait for your answer.
You were nothing less than taken aback by his question. You never discussed sex with Spencer, there was always a silent boundary on the subject. It wasn’t his business, you both knew that, so why did you want to answer honestly? You didn’t, you couldn’t. That’s a can or worms for a different day, with a therapist, who you didn’t live with. So you simply laughed it off.
“I mean, you’ve heard the rumors, I’m sure you’re smart enough to figure that out.” You said it as a joke, Spencer didn’t laugh, he simply shifted his feet a bit.
“I am smart enough to figure it out. Except the answer I came up with, is that you don’t like it.”
You laughed again, this time shifting your eyes to the ground. Two psycho-analyzers living together had it’s quirks, such as exposing each other’s darkest secrets on accident.
“Come on Spencer, I’m like, a slut. Of course I do.” You were still smiling, mostly to deflect.
“Don’t say that.” He was serious. You certainly wish he wasn’t, but fine. If he wanted to be serious, you would be serious.
“It’s true.” You were surrounded by criminals on a daily basis, lying was second nature to you.
Reid wasn’t having it, “No, y/n, it’s not. You’re not a slut, you’re not a whore, you’re not just some sex toy to be traded from person to person.”
“My sex life is none of your business. I can sleep with whoever I want to-”
“That’s the thing! You don’t want to sleep with them. You don’t want to be looked at like that. You don’t want to consume any of the content that you’ve been looking at. I know you don’t.” He kept a steady voice, but a dominate one nonetheless. He let everything just roll of his tongue, as though he didn’t just send a wrecking ball through every wall you’ve built up since you were a child.
You couldn’t find words, you couldn’t come up with a lie or excuse, you couldn’t figure out how to let out the truth, you simply stood in your astonished silence.
Spencer looked at your face, searching for any sign of emotion, but you stood still as a statue.
“Look, y/n, I didn’t mean to-”
“I’m a slut.” Your voice cracked when you spoke, almost like Reid’s heart when he heard it.
“No, no my love you aren’t.”
“No. That’s what I am. That’s what I do, that’s what I’m good at. I-It’s what I’m good at. I’m good for sex, that’s what I’m good at.” Your gaze fell back to the floor as you spoke, your words quickly becoming muddled and rambled. Your body started shaking as you spoke, causing Spencer to quickly make his way to your side.
“Slut, I’m a slut Spence, it’s what I’m good at. It’s okay, I’m okay with it, I promise. I know, I know I am. It doesn’t bother me-”
“Shhh, Breathe honey. Come on, deep breath in-” Spencer breathed with you until you steadied yourself. You gathered your thoughts and your feelings. You tried to gather the pieces of the wall Reid broke, desperate to put it back together, but when you looked back up at Spencer, you let it all go again. He made you feel safe, that’s all that you wanted.
“I can’t stop it Spence.” Your voice was soft. You were letting go of something you held onto for so long. Soemthing you hid behind, something you felt comfort in, you just placed it down in front of him. You felt bare, naked, and yet somehow felt more comfortable than you ever have before. You could breathe easier. Someone knew now, someone knew you.
“We’re gonna get you some help. Okay?” You replied with a nod before wrapping your arms around him. He placed a kiss on your head before speaking again,

“You are a mystery to me, yet so familiar. Like a song I’ve never heard before, and a tune I’ve known my entire life.”
Y/N hadn't spoken a word since she was eighteen and long before that something had changed. Her parents finally decided enough was enough and sent her to Saint Jude's hospital in Glasgow.
Campbell had literally crashed into the new girl during his excitement at hearing that the Saint Jude's radio station would be reopened.
The girl screamed as he collided with her and she started screaming and kicking due to his body weight on her.
"Sorry. Sorry. Sorry." He said, hurriedly, getting off of her and holding a hand out to help her up but she just stared at him, terrified, "I'm sorry. Uh..." He realized he didn't recognize her, as far as he knew he was the youngest patient at Saint Jude's and this girl was around his age. This was exciting! "Are you new? I'm Campbell Bain, I'll be the bane of your life until one of us is discharged." He chortled at his own joke before he realized she was still of the floor, "Oh, let me help you up." He crouched down and took her hand, helped her up.
She stared at him with a confused look on her face but she didn't pull her hand away yet more out of shock than anything. Campbell offered her a smile before she ripped her hand out of his grip and ran off, leaving Campbell very confused.
He asked the nurses about the girl but none would give him proper answers, until he got to Stuart the orderlie, who should've been a patient instead but... you know, life.
"She's a looney." He said, blankly.
"Ai, yes. Yes. Yes. I know that much but what's her name? What's her deal?" Campbell prodded.
"Y/N." Was all he said.
--
A few days later, Eddie McKenna arrived to be the DJ for Saint Jude's, with assumption that he'd be able to tell the difference between the staff and the patients.
He had an interaction with Stuart and assumed he was a patient but found out that he was a nursing assistant. Well, that couldn't be good.
Then he met Campbell, who seemed perfectly friendly and nice before realizing he was a patient himself.
Campbell and Y/N were on better terms, now that she had stopped bolting on the other direction when he tried to talk to her. And they listened to Eddie's show as Y/N read Narnia.
Soon after the show, Eddie heard Campbell playing and singing, Summertime Blues on his guitar which was only slightly out of tune, which Eddie had played on his show. He saw Y/N correcting Campbell's finger placement on the guitar as he whined that it hurt his hand.
Campbell enthusiastically praised Eddie and explained on his poor timing and the patient’s dependence of television.
Y/N caught sight of something moving outside the window and she threw a guitar pick at Campbell, making him pout in her direction before seeing her pointing and they ran to window as he said, “Hang on, you’re not boring me or that, but I’ve just seen a friend of mine flying past the window.”
Y/N and Campbell leaned out the window to see the hospital’s Schizophrenic who despite the schtick his disorder stereotyped him as he was just the most gentle soul you’d ever meet, if a little eccentric, grappling down the side of the building.
“Fergus! What’re you doing!?” Campbell shouted after him as Eddie joined them, “you’re gonna hurt yourself!”
“Shall I get a nurse?” Eddie asked and Y/N shook her head.
“Fergus! You’re gonna miss your cocoa, you know!”
“I know.” Fergus told him.
“Can Y/N and I have it, then?” He asked.
“Help yourselves.” He told them.
“He’s escaping.” Eddie said, surprised how calm both of them were being so calm about this
“He’ll be knocking on the door in an hour or so. He always does.” Campbell reassured Eddie, “annoys the hell out of the staff but makes this one smile.” He nodded at Y/N as she sat on Campbell’s bed with his guitar, the look of fascination in Campbell's eyes was not lost on Eddie.
Campbell returned to his enthusiastic and impulsive idea-planning, the first being to bring up a story when a student nurse accidently gave everyone in the ward a laxative, making Eddie and Y/N look at him oddly and the only problem he saw with it was where he’d get that many laxatives.
“What about a request show?” He asked Eddie.
“I already thought of that. I haven’t enough records.” Eddie shot down that idea… well, he’s never disagreed with Campbell Bain before.
“So?”
“So? When folk request something, they usually like to be able to play it.”
“We just make them keep requesting until they hit something we actually have.” Campbell said, “‘if you can guess a record that we actually have in our library, then we will play it for you with a special dedication’.” He did a playful punch in the air, “who could resist?”
“It’ll never work.”
Y/N who had been playing with Campbell’s guitar, then played a jingly tune.
“You’re right, Y/N!” He declared, enthusiastically with an enthusiastic pointed finger at her and then he ran his hand through his light auburn-brown floppy hair, “We’ll need some jingles.” Y/N looked up when Campbell sang a jingle, “Hospital radio, Saint Juuuuude’s.” He smiled at Eddie, “that sort of thing.”
“You need singers to record jingles.”
Campbell picked up his guitar from Y/N and sat next to her, “and what exactly is sitting here before you?”
“A lunatic!” Eddie declared, making Y/N softly giggle.
“Aye, a singing lunatic!” Campbell agreed, enthusiastically. “We could record them in the station, aye?”
“Aye…” Eddie submitted.
“Brilliant!” Campbell exclaimed, going back to Eddie, “Now give me the key.” He held out his hand.
“What key?” Eddie asked.
“To the station.” Campbell said and ran to the door, looking out, “look, I’ve gotta start. Writing the jingles, rehearsing the singers, cataloging the albums.”
Eddie looked at Y/N as she looked back down and realized he hadn’t gotten her name, having been distracted Campbell’s… Campbell-ness and Fergus escaping. “Uh, ma’am… what’s your name again?” Eddie asked, making Y/N look up from a piece of paper she was now writing on, she gave him with a blank deadpan look at being called “ma’am”. She was only eighteen.
“That’s Y/N.” Campbell said.
“What’s your favorite album?” Nothing. She just looked at him, “can you sing?” She blinked twice and he turned back to Campbell, “what’s wrong with her?”
“Oh, she doesn’t speak. She hasn’t said a word since she got here.” Campbell said, “and there’s nothing wrong with her, she’s just looney like me!”
Eddie walked closer to him and asked as gently as he could, “Campbell, how exactly are you here?”
Campbell paused in which he faltered, knowing how his own father felt about his disorder before smiling, “Can you not guess? I’m manic.” Y/N looked up and smiled at him, making his eyes dart to her and a more genuine smile appeared on his lips before he reassured Eddie, “but don’t worry. The drugs I take make me completely stable. Except for headaches, of course.” He blinked in pain as he focused back on the painful headaches and he squeezed his eyes shut before blindly grabbing onto Eddie’s shirt who could sense a scene coming up as could Y/N who looked up to be amused by Campbell, “I get these headaches. I just comes over me and I cannae…” He flopped on his bed, next to Y/N and shouted out in pain, “ah, the bells! The bells!”
Y/N reached over and went to place her hand on Campbell’s back before stopping, hesitating to do so, not sure if they were close enough or if she wanted to admit that they were close enough and then suddenly Campbell’s mood shifted back to near manic and he shot himself up to look at Eddie, making Y/N pull her hand away, blinking briefly in surprise, “And I want my own show, by the way.”
“What?” Eddie asked.
“Well, after all this work, I think it’s only fair, don’t you?” He questioned.
“Campbell, I cannae just give you your own show.” Eddie protested, “you need training on the equipment.”
“So? Train me!” Campbell pleaded, eagerly. “I’ll take Friday nights.”
“Will that not clash with Brookside?” Eddie questioned.
Y/N looked at the window where they had gone to to shout after Fergus.
—
The next day, Campbell and Eddie were in the common room with Eddie standing shyly while Campbell did the opposite and shouted through a party megaphone while Y/N sat with Fergus, writing down something for him to read. “Ladies and gentlemen, I have an important announcement to make!” He spotted Fergus and Y/N and narrowed his eyes, “Fergus, stop flirting with Y/N.”
Y/N rolled her eyes and went to the couch rather bored now and put her headphones on.
Campbell and Eddie had announced the request show, while admitting that they had limited records. Eddie went to talk to Nana while Campbell stared at Y/N, feeling nervous to approach her since he worried she hated him with how scared she got when he interacted with her.
Then Fergus clapped him on the back, making him stumble and look at him, unamused before approaching the silent H/C-haired girl.
"Hey, Y/N," Campbell said, kindly, walking up to the silent girl but she didn't seem to hear him as she was listening to her Walkman. He tapped her shoulder, making her jump and stare at him with wide eyes just as she had when they first met. He gestured to her headphones, silently asking if he could take them off and she slowly nodded and he gently slid them off and could vaguely hear Damn, I Wish I Was Your Lover by Sophie B. Hawkins.
"Hey, we're doing a request show. You have any requests?"
She looked at him for a good while before getting up and leaving. Campbell frowned and his spirits were diminished before leaning forward and face planting his face into the couch cushion, groaning.
—
Campbell showed Eddie the radio station now cleaned and useable thanks to him, Y/N, and Rosalie and as he left Eddie questioned Campbell about Nana and Campbell answered in his own hyperactive way before Eddie questioned him about his obvious crush on Y/N.
“The silent girl, uh… M/Y/N.” (Mispronunciation of Your Name)
“Y/N.” Campbell corrected, automatically in a slightly defensive tone.
“Is she your girlfriend?”
Campbell’s cheeks burned as they reddened and his heartrate quickened, “No. No. No. She’s new actually. Been here about a week. She… she’s a mystery.” He gave out a dreamy smile, “One I’d like to solve but…” He shrugged like, what can you do?
—
Campbell was snoring when he was awoken by a friendly smack in the head. He woke up, groaning with confusion before turning on his light, illuminating Y/N who smile sweetly at him as she held something behind her back.
"Jesus, Y/N." He groaned, "what you do that for?" She just looked at him and he nodded, remembering who je was talking to, "right. Uh, what is it?"
Y/N brought a custom record sleeve out from behind her back and he slowly began to realize what she was trying tell him.
"Oh, you want me to play one of these songs during the show tomorrow, er… today?" He asked.
She nodded and sat on the edge of his bed, making him kick around spazzily and awkwardly before sitting up, trying to make room for her as his heart pounded and he looked down at her, feeling her body heat up against his but forced himself not to think about that as it was a bit of a creepy thought to have at two in the morning as she showed him the songs on the back of the vinyl which was also handmade, she pointed at the first song: a cover of The Velvet Underground's Sweet Jane by Cowboy Junkies.
"Is that your favorite song?" He asked and she nodded. "Wait, these are all from different bands, how'd you get this?"
She pointed to herself, "you made it?" He gathered, "Who made the record?" She pointed to herself again and he just smiled at her impressed and enamored by her. "You are one mystery, Y/N L/N. You may be my favorite mystery.”
She smiled, telling him that she liked the idea of being a mystery to him and kissed his cheek, near the corner of his lip, nearly making him melt with a loud dreamy sigh before running off. He looked after he with a starstruck look of awe on his face before flopping back on his pillow, groaning.
—
The next day, Y/N shared a smile with Fergus before listening in on the radio to the show, standing and watching Campbell through the window.
“Good evening! This is Ready Eddie.” Eddie introduced, “and on my left is my right-hand man…”
“Campbell Bain.” Campbell introduced, not seeing Y/N watching him and the smile on her lips.
“And you’re listening to the first ever Ready Eddie Radio Request Road Show.” He gave Campbell a thumbs up and the nineteen-year-old pushed a button, making a jingle play.
“Ready Eddie’s road show. Ready, Eddie, go.”
“That’s right. This is the premiere. This is the first. And you can tell everyone that you were there. You heard it! You saw it!” Campbell said, enthusiastically before joking, “And they’ll tell you, it’s all part of your illness.”
Y/N giggled at his antics before realizing this and she zipped her leather jacket up over her shirt with the sarcastic quote on it.
“We’re playing requests from Ward Eleven this evening. This one is for Francine. I hope you’re listening, Francine.”
Campbell then teased, “I hope anyone’s listening.” He then saw Y/N watching him and let out an audible smile that melted his insides.
“Is anybody listening?” Eddie asked, “Is anybody out there?”
Then Help! By the Beatles started to play and soon the patients came out and Campbell ran out of the station to dance with some patients before more came out, including Fergus. He gave Y/N a smile and thumbs up as he flashed the part of the television he had removed.
Campbell ran back to Eddie and pulled his earphone off so he could talk to him, “the television’s broken, Eddie! There is a God!”
Eddie nodded in the direction of Y/N and Campbell’s face lit up and he ran to Y/N and taking her hands, trying to ease her into dancing. She shook her head before starting to shuffle awkwardly to the music before Campbell took her hands and pulled her against him so she danced with him to the beat of the music. She then giggled up against him and he smiled, triumphally.
He was about to comment on how beautiful her laugh when there was a BANG! And the music stopped, making them all exclaim in disappointment before Campbell and Y/N ran back to the station to see what was wrong.
“What’s wrong?”
“The mixing desk.” Eddie said, trying to fix it with his limited knowledge.
“Do something!” Campbell exclaimed.
“What can I do? I can’t even turn on the bathroom light without shocking myself.” Eddie remarked.
“Well, check the plug. Maybe it’s the fuse.” Campbell suggested as Y/N looked up at Fergus and gestured for him to come.
“It’s not the fuse.” Eddie sighed.
Campbell ran his hand through his floppy hair, “I cannae believe this. I’ve just had the world’s shortest career as a disk jockey.”
Fergus took out a screwdriver and headed inside to help and started to unscrew the screws of the mixing desk.
“Fergus, what are you doing?” Campbell asked.
“I’ll just have a look.” Fergus reassure him.
“No, don’t!” Eddie shouted, “don’t have a look there.”
Y/N helped Fergus lift the plate of the mixing desk as Eddie continued to try and stop Fergus and Y/N, “Fergus, Y/N, I’m asking you. Please, leave it alone”
“He’s gonna blow it up.” A patient said.
“He’s not!” Campbell protested.
“I think I know what the problem is.” Fergus told Eddie.
“He’s blowing it up.” Another patient said and the others started to chant Fergus’ name.
“Fergus, don’t, okay!? Just leave it alone. It’s all we’ve got.” Eddie pleaded and Y/N smacked Eddie’s shoulder when Stuart literally pushed her out of the way, making her squeak and stumble before Campbell caught her and glared at Stuart.
“Oi, watch where you’re going!” He shouted.
Stuart aggressively grabbed Fergus holding him in a near chokehold and Y/N tried to go forth to help but Campbell held her back, knowing she’d just be pushed away again, if not sedated.
“He’s not causing trouble, is he?” He asked Eddie and Y/N shook her head, frantically at Eddie.
“No, he’s just helping me, get the mixing desk going again.” Eddie muttered.
“Him? He couldn’t get his brain going again.” Stuart spat and Y/N scoffed, implying that she felt that better described Stuart than Fergus.
“Leave it, Stuart.” Isabella, the more kind nurse said, “it’s all over.”
Stuart let Fergus go and sulked out of the room, clearly upset that he didn’t get to hurt someone as Y/N gave him the middle finger.
Fergus closed the plate of the mixing desk and Y/N flipped the switch, making the light come back on.
“You two are geniuses.” Campbell gasped.
Y/N shook her head and pointed at Fergus like, no, he’s the genius.
“YOU’RE GENIUSES!” Campbell shouted and he slammed the door shut and got back to the microphone, “Sorry about the technical problems, folks. We’re now back on the air and we hope to keep it that way. Our next request is for Y/N and dedicated to her by me.” He chortled as he looked at her and clicked his tongue as he winked.
The cover of Sweet Jane played, making Y/N smile as Eddie looked at Fergus, giving him an apologetic and thankful smile as Fergus perpetually scowled before his lips curved into a gentle smile.
Later, Y/N helped Campbell clean up the hallways before they bumped into each other.
“Uh… so how did you know how to help Fergus?” He asked.
She took out her wad of paper and wrote: Learned. Taught.
He nodded, taking what he could get, “I always knew you were smart.” He said, honestly and he hesitated before leaning towards her to kiss her cheek like she had done the night, she shifted, conflicted as she could see the pure gentless in Campbell's personality, in his actions, in his eyes, and she could feel it in his cheek kiss. He had hesitated, not wanting to overstep boundaries and he was still nervous about his decision but before she could react Eddie ran out of the room, making them break apart and move out of the way before he rammed into them.
*This is a series from my Wattpad, so I'm moving in to Tumblr and Archive of my Own. There is an entire subplot later on of stalking and the cause of the reader's muteness or mutism (which ever is the correct term). Am I the only one who feels like Campbell Bain might also have ADHD or is it just because of his Bipolar/Manic Depression. I'm usually good at this but I'm having a hard time differentiating the two or maybe it's just David Tennant.

Y/N had died in their world, and their soul was put into a puppet, known as the new arrival of welcome home! Y/N teardrop
The moment Y/N woke up, they chose to not tell her past, her sword, and other things where transported to her. Y/N frequently tries to cover up her big scars, but stopped after an incident where she got sprayed with water.
Some are quite uneasy because of the scars due to it being too much to look at or to even touch, wally himself had some hard times, but tries to be more gentler with Y/N.
Summary: reader is best friends with Tim drake and is dating Jason Todd. But she doesn’t know their secret identities or the fact that she has known Jason since she was 11 years old…
English isn’t my first language, sorry for any mistakes I made.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Tim, stop whining, I can drink a beer. High school kids drink beer. I bet you drank things far stronger than a beer when you were 18.”
“Don’t talk about me like I’m a hundred years old Y/N. I’m just 23.”
“See that’s my point. We were both in the same class and we both have a bachelor's degree. I don’t see you can drink while I can’t.”
“Because! I’m 23 and you’re 19. You went to college early, you’re not old enough for alcohol!”
“Which means I am mature and smart enough to handle a little beer!”
“The age limit isn’t there because of that! It’s because…”
“Oh please both of you, can it! Drake, sit your ass down! Y/N here’s a beer. Now. Shut. Up. Ok? I’m getting a headache!” Jason interrupted the two best friends with an annoyed look written all over his face. He stormed off, shutting the door behind him, almost breaking it.
“I believe that Master Jason has had a tough and difficult week. You should be upset with him.” Alfred said calmly afre Jason had stormed off.
“Really because I thought he was mad at me and wanted to rip my head off.” Tim groaned.
After a while we started watching TV when the news came up, saying the Joker had escaped Arkham Asylum. The shiver that went down you spine attracted Tim’s attention.
“Why do you always shiver when we hear his name?”
I looked at Tim. I had never told him about my encounter with the clown monster of Gotham.
I was 11, he attacked my class, killing everyone from the teacher to the students. I was so scared. I was under my desk looking for my pen when he came inside killing everyone with a rifle. My friend was dead beside me, bleeding out on the ground. I laid down on the ground near the puddle of blood next to him. I put my hand in his blood and made a red spot on my shirt, to make it seem like I had been shot too and that we were sharing the same puddle of blood. I was extremely bright with an IQ of 167. So my parents had homeschooled me before this year. And I would spend three months a year studying and the next nine months having fun. My father was a scuba diving instructor and we spent a lot of time together at the pool and the sea. So I was able to hold my breath for 6 minutes at a time. But for my fifth grade I had asked my mom to let me go to school, I wanted to have friends. All I could think about was how I must be a horrible person for using my friend’s blood to survive. The thing is I really wanted to be dead at the moment so I didn’t move at all, guilt washing over me, it paralyzed me. I couldn’t move. I breathed once every five or six minutes, the joker really thought I was dead. Sixteen hours later Batman and Robin were taking each body out, delivering them to their parents. I was conscious but I really couldn’t move at that point. I don’t know if it was exhaustion from the uncomfortable situation I had laid in, if it was hunger and I had no energy to move or if it was still the guilt not allowing me to move. When Robin picked me up, he flinched. I felt his flinch. I still remember his dreamy voice.
“Batman, I think this kid is alive. She’s warm.”
“Does she have a pulse?”
“I don’t know. She’s warm but I don’t feel her pulse. Maybe it’s really weak. Let me check the bullet wound”
He put me on surface and he started taking off my jacket. I was left in my top. He pushed the hem of my top up, the shirt had a bloody spot on it. I had done that so the Joker would think I’m dead, that I had been shot. He touched my stomach so lightly, so softly it was barely noticeable, or maybe I was dying of dehydration and hunger that my senses had been weakened.
“Batman there is no bullet wound.”
“Then where did the blood come from?”
“I think she did it herself. Maybe she wasn’t shot and pretended to be. She’s still warm and…”
I finally came out of shock. I really wasn’t dead. Robin said so. He said I’m not dead. He said I’m pretending. I let go. Batman was safe. Robin was safe. They wouldn’t hurt me. I let go of the control I had on my breathing and my chest started rising and falling. That’s what made them stop talking, the sound of me letting go of my breath. I was alive. They were dead. Everyone was dead and I was alive. Because I dropped my pencil. This is not right. I felt the tears leave the corner of my eyes and I started sobbing. Robin slowly picked me up and put me in his lap and asked me to open my eyes. I couldn’t do that. The tears were falling and I couldn’t do anything about it. I was still unable to move.
“Hey. I know you’re really scared right now. But I need to see your eyes to make sure you’re ok. Don’t you wanna go back to mommy and daddy?” His voice was so soft and kind. No. I didn’t want to go to mom and dad. I didn’t deserve it. If I stay still for a few more hours I’ll die too, just like I should’ve. I moved and shook my head no. I slowly opened my eyes and shook my head no again.
“What is it doll? Do you not have parents? Do they hurt you? What is it?”
His eyes were so nice. They made me feel safe. I started crying louder and I told him that I shouldn’t be alive, that if I stay unmoving enough I’ll die like I should’ve. That it isn’t fair that Dennis died and I’m alive. Dennis wanted to be the president. He wanted to change the world. I should’ve died instead of him. I’m alive just because I dropped my pencil. He just blinked at me. He realized that I may have been 11 but I was far more mature than that.
“None of you should have died. The Joker changed the way things should have been. It isn’t your fault that you’re alive. It’s his fault that they’re dead, not yours. You should wanna go outside and live the best life you can instead of your friend. He would want you to be happy. You should live the days he couldn’t and remember him everyday, live everyday for him, so when he's watching you, he’ll feel like he’s living too. He wants you to be happy I promise. But he’s dead and you’re alive. It’s an opportunity. The Joker couldn’t kill you. You have a purpose. You stayed alive for a reason. In my opinion you should live so you can find out what that purpose is and why you’re alive. Don’t you think so?”
I slowly shook my head and hugged his neck close. He picked me up and slowly walked the halls of school so he could give me to my parents. I was always a small person, even as child. I was 11 but I looked 8. So it was easy to lift me.
“Robin?”
“Yeah?”
“How old are you?”
“Why?”
“I wanna know if you’re old enough to be wise and say stuff like that.”
He chuckled lightly. “I’m sixteen, am I old enough?”
“Hmmm… I guess.”
“What’s your name?”
“Y/N.”
“That’s my favorite name!”
“Really?!” The little excitement in my voice probably assured Robin that I would be ok.
“Yeah. And I can tell that you’ll be ok. You are smiling. I can hear your smile in voice.” He reached the door and put me down. I was still smiling. “Never stop smiling Y/N. You have a beautiful smile that the world needs to see.” He kissed the open cut beside my eyebrow that went down to my cheek. I had gotten that cut while trying to lie on the ground, I accidentally put my head on my pencil. He went outside the school and shouted my name. When my parents turned around to Robin, they probably expected a corpse not me with dried tears and blood all over my face running to them.
“Y/N?” Tim shouted.
“Why are you shouting?!”
“I have been calling you eight times. You ok?”
“I was lost in my thoughts.”
“About the Joker?”
“Yes, we had a very unpleasant encounter eight years ago. I'd rather forget it.”
I got up and headed for my bag.
“I’m sorry I didn’t mean to upset you Y/N.”
“No you didn’t Timmy,” I kissed his cheek. “I just have to go. I have to go to my apartment and study. And honestly I remembered something bad… I need some space and time, ok?” I said while gathering my stuff. I waved him goodbye and went outside to get a cab. I didn’t wanna bother Alfred when I heard a motorcycle roar behind me. I turned to see the hottest person alive smiling at me.
“Well hello sailor!” I said, smiled and kissed his hair before sitting behind him.
“My place or yours?”
“Hmm whichever is closest I need to study.”
“Really?”
“Yes now hurry up Jay, if you don’t I’ll go home on my own.”
“If you wanna study I don’t wanna be there. I hate it when you do that…”
“Fine, then just drop me off.” He nodded, putting his helmet on and starting to drive.
He stopped in front of my apartment complex. I took off his helmet, kissed him and left.
I went upstairs to my apartment and I changed into a sports bra and Bicycle pants and remembered what I just did. I had lied to the man I love, because I’m all messed up and he doesn’t know it. This is what I always did. Whenever I remembered that horrendous day I would go home, take my mattress off my bed and lean it against the wall and start punching and kicking it. I had started going to self defense classes after what happened that day. I promised myself I would never be vulnerable enough for anyone to hurt me, which is probably why I have kept Tim, the only friend I’ve had since that day and Jason, the boyfriend I love so much, in the dark. I don’t want to give them weapons to hurt me. No one knows that maniac like I do, no one knows what he can do but me. I kept punching and kicking the mattress over and over again. I remembered him standing over mine and Dennis’ bodies. Tears started forming in my eyes, blurring my vision but I kept on hitting. I remembered him starting to laugh like a psychopath. My punches were landing on the soft mattress anymore but I couldn’t see what it was and I didn’t care. I remembered him cutting some of their faces and putting a Glasgow smile on their dead bodies. And at the same moment my tears left my eyes and my vision cleared. I punched the wall so hard, I put my hand through it. My knuckles were bleeding. My apartment had thin walls. I could see the kitchen now from the living room. Great. Just great. The TV was on and I suddenly heard commissioner Gordon advising civilians to stay away from a part of Gotham because the son of a bitch was there and Batman was fighting him. I looked outside and it was raining. I tied my hair up and let my bangs cover my eyebrows and my scar. A little part of my scar that went to my cheekbone was always visible but no one ever saw it really, or connected the dots. I didn’t want people pitying me so I always had bangs, I never tried to grow them out. Then I put on a coat and a face mask and went outside. It’s time I faced my greatest fear. I knew how to be sneaky. The self defense classes I took? I took them without my parents permission or knowledge, so yeah I was pretty sneaky. I ran in the rain and sneaked into the street where they were fighting and looked around for a hiding place when I saw my old school. No no no no no. Why had he come here?
“See Batsy, this little school is very important to me. I love it so much.” He let out a giggle. Then something happened. He blew up a few places around him, knocking Batman, Red Robin and Red Hood to the ground. I was torn should I help them or confront Joker. I was about to go help them when the bastard saw me.
“And who is this little girl?”
Batman tried to get up but couldn’t, having been blown up from underneath, right and left really hurt him.
He threw something at me and my mask fell off. I wore it back as fast as I could but he had already seen my face.
“Wait, I know you! You’re the girl that survived my little attack on this school.” My body went cold. How did he know me?
“I saw you on TV in Arkham, you had a little scar from your eyebrow to your cheek, you probably still do.” He stepped closer. I tried to go back but my back hit the wall.
“You see, I always thought of you and Hoodie boy as my masterpieces.” Hoodie boy? Did he mean Red Hood?
“You pretended to be dead for 16 hours. That must’ve been so fun.” He laughed.
“I bet you had a lot of fun.” He said and My fist tightened.
“I bet you’re here to avenge your little friend. You and Hoodie boy are a lot alike, you’re avenging your dead friend and Hoodie boy is avenging himself. You see I kinda killed him but he came back. I thought I killed you but you came back too! You two would make a great couple. I should set you up.I know where you live, when I kill him and I’ll leave him on the doorstep as a gift.” My stomach dropped. He knows where I live, the Joker is many things but he isn’t a liar. I may have studied Chemistry at college with Tim but we shared classes only for one semester. I got my bachelors degree in Chemistry within a year and a half and then I started studying Psychology. I have been studying psychology for three years now. And I knew the Joker wouldn’t benefit from lying. He doesn’t do it. It’s not his M.O, not his style. If he knows where I live…
“Or maybe I should kill you both and put you in a romantic position in your apartment? That’ll be more fun wouldn’t it?” He moved towards me and I suddenly punched him hard and my knuckles started bleeding again. I kicked him in the stomach to push him away. I started running towards the heroes, usually people need a kick or water splash to wake up. I had no water so kicking would have to do. I kicked all of them and I heard Red Hood cursing me.
“Damn woman, don't kick me, where am I supposed to tell my girlfriend this bruise came from?” I chuckled slightly and helped him up.
“How about the Joker?” Joker started running towards us and I jumped on thr boxes on corner and jumped above Joker’s head and landed behind him, punching his spine.
“Since she doesn’t know who I am, I can’t really do that.” He said while he dodged the metal balls Joker was throwing at us.
“Well how about a bar fight? You seem like the type to drink and punch.” I said taking the small object he gave me. “Throw.” he shouted and we both threw the balls at the same time, making a little explosion to distract the Joker. Suddenly I saw Red Robin attacking the Joker.
“Red Hood, take her to the safe house. I want to talk to her later.” And he joined Red Robin in the fight. Suddenly Hood threw my on his back and started running.
“Hey I can’t smell like your stinky cologne. My boyfriend is coming over tomorrow morning! Put me down.”
“Not a chance little Sparrow.” My heart stopped and I couldn’t say anything. He put me on the motorcycle, sat behind me, took the wheel and started driving.
“Red Hood?”
“Yeah?”
“What did you just call me?”
“Oh sorry. You just sounded like my girlfriend and that’s what I call her, little Sparrow. She’s really fast, not unlike yourself.” I was speechless. My boyfriend was Red Hood. Well now I knew who everyone in the bats were, it wasn’t hard to guess the others.
“Although you have grown up so much you know.”
“Excuse me?”
“Oh come on Y/N. You don’t recognize me?”
“How do you know my name?” I was starting to get scared.
“Oh come on. You told me yourself! You got so excited when I told you your name was my favorite name.”
“Robin?”
“You got it baby!”
“You left.”
“Pardon?”
“After that… you just left. It was just Batman for a while and then Robin came back, but it wasn’t you. He didn’t feel like you. I felt it in my heart that it wasn’t you.”
“I— well the Joker already told you he killed me so there’s your answer.” His voice was more quiet now, more sad.
“You heard what he said?”
“Yeah that’s why I recognized you, your scar isn’t visible.”
“So the Joker just killed you?”
He seemed torn. He shifted behind me. “Yeah, he beat me to death with a crowbar and then blew me up. And I honestly don’t know why I’m telling you this, I don’t even know you.”
“Well Jay, maybe it’s because sometimes people feel comfortable with each other even though they don’t know each other.”
He suddenly stopped the cycle. And pulled my face towards him. “How do you know my name?” I took off the mask and looked at him. “I bet I’m the last you expected to see under this mask Jay.” I smiled at him nervously. He was shocked to say the least, he just kept staring at me. “But how did you…”
“You said you call your girlfriend little Sparrow. I knew instantly.” I kissed his helmet and put my mask back on and turned my head. When he started driving he changed his direction. “Hey aren’t we going to a safe house? Why did you change direction?”
“Oh now that you know who I am and I know who you are, we are going to the batcave.”
“Really?”
“Yeah and I bet Bruce would want you on the team, you held your own against Joker.”
“Thanks to my secret self defense classes.”
“You’re gonna have to tell me all about it later sweetheart.”
And I knew, being vulnerable with my boyfriend or best friend wasn’t going to be a problem anymore. Maybe we could all be vulnerable together. And apparently the Joker was right, me and Jay would be a good couple. The best one there was. I had been dating him for six months and now… now I know that there will never be an end to us.
