๐ผโ๏ธ๐พreposted from @richardbeaversgallery ๐คโจ๏ธBlack Joy is a Revolutionary Act๐คโจ๏ธ A bold affirmation of Black Joy as both political resistance and cultural renaissance. Featuring the works of Desmond Beach, Leroy Campbell, Lynthia Edwards, Frank Morrison, daร Pรฒ rรฉo, Faith Ringgold, and Phyllis Stephens, this exhibition explores joy not as a fleeting feeling but as a sacred inheritance and radical declaration of life.
These artists illuminate how everyday Black life rooted in resilience, ancestry, and imagination becomes a divine act of freedom. In the face of systemic harm, Black joy has always endured. Not given by the world, and thus, it cannot be taken away.
Join us for the Opening Reception of our powerful summer exhibition celebrating resilience and radiance through Black art. Black joy is more than a feelingโitโs a spiritual force, a cultural inheritance, and a radical act of resistance. RSVP

Phyllis Stephens, a fifth-generation quilt maker based in Atlanta, Georgia, is widely celebrated as a master of African American story quilts. With over 30 years of professional quilting experience, her intricate, prayerful process transforms fabric and thread into profound visual narratives that honor Black history, culture, and resilience. Deeply inspired by spirituality, memory, and the evolving cultural landscape, she approaches each quilt as a living tribute to the past and a testament to the beauty of storytelling. Her attention to sustainable materials and thoughtful design underscores her belief that quilt making is not only an art form but a sacred, ever-evolving journey. #BlackJoyIsARevolutionaryAct #RichardBeaversGallery #JoyAsResistance #CulturalRenaissance #BlackArtists #AncestralJoy #PhyllisStephens
