Transmission 004 // Alley Protocol
Filed by: Havoc Status: Systems booted, spine glitching, caffeine levels: criminally low. Mildly feral until further notice.
Something skittered at the edge of the compound last night. Not a threat, not a drone, and not a Council stray. Just… something with tiny hands and zero respect for personal space. It tapped on the window like it was filing a complaint. I dragged myself outside with a bag of rations (the cheap stuff, the kind that tastes like optimism ran out halfway through manufacturing) and, because nothing in this city is free, I demanded payment. One boop. Right on the nose. Standard toll. It complied. Honestly? Better manners than half the people I know.
Then I heard the fence shift. More little gremlins climbing down like a glitchy gravity test. The bold one marched right up for their own toll. The others lurked in the shadows like I was either feeding them or luring them into a trap. (Typical Wultáriya trust issues. Can’t blame them.) Everything was fine until a nearby vent kicked on... loud, metallic, angry. All of them vanished into the dark like someone hit them with an EMP burst. Same energy I’d have if someone turned the lights on too fast. City’s loud tonight. Even the alley gremlins couldn’t handle it.
