From Jaina:
So, I asked the records department here at SCCC to comply with the settlement agreement with Disability Rights Washington in that they have the Offender Management Network Information system (OMNI) stop displaying my gender as "Male" and as I have requested in writing that it display "Female" in accordance with how I identify and present.
The response was: "…this is a male facility…"
In addition to implying that the location of my incarceration determines my gender (which then becomes immutable), this position is in overt defiance of an agreement before the court.
Bastion of liberalism Washington State, protecting Trans Rights, with the small exception of anyone incarcerated, in which case one may as well live in Trumpville USA.
For the record, I have never requested to be moved to a female facility. This is partly because of the blanket accusations being levied against ALL transwomen in the recent lawsuit filed against the state for allowing transwomen at WCCW, which essentially alleges that all transwomen are predators.
I saw those sorts of unfounded accusations from coming from a long way off, and decided against subjecting myself to that sort of categorical attack. Avoiding unnecessary conflict is not cowardice, it is prudence. Asking to go to WCCW doesn't seem like a good idea for me at this juncture, especially since I have less than 3 years left to serve.
Besides, I already defended myself from physical attack by multiple assailants in this "male facility", which earned me a reputation as "not an easy target". I wear that reputation like armor. I'm not saying that makes me completely safe here, but in the current political climate, I would rather get jumped again than be a political clay pigeon for conservative skeet shooting. Better the devil I know, than the one I don't.
So, I was told that because I am at a "male facility", the OMNI will continue to label me as male, and "this issue will not be addressed again."
I happen to know that even the transwomen at WCCW have a "male" label in their OMNI profile, so the REAL reason that mine also still says "male" is because I was assigned male at birth, and certain employees of the State of Washington refuse to acknowledge that gender is a mutable characteristic, and that assigned sex is MEDICAL information.
Those employees are refusing to comply with agreements before the courts of this State. I call on the executive to enforce the agreement.
I will (for the time being) withhold the names of the DOC employees making these statements and refusing to take action, because at this time I am pursuing administrative remedy regarding this issue, but the real remedy is to alert elected officials, that people in their employ are making them look CONSERVATIVE.
And I'm using conservative as an expletive, because it's a bad thing to be, resistance to change means resistance to positive change too, and traditional values used to include slavery and sexism. Just because things have been a certain way in the past doesn't make those old ways right or good, it just makes them old. Not all change is good, but "no change at all" is definitely bad.
Something something queer events
I feel like your critiques of the “femboy” label apply equally to the “gay boy” label. Most people forced to live their lives as “gay men” (who are made to live as sexually available to men) would be much happier living as trans women. I know I am . . .
I’m sure a handful truly are “gay” or “homosexual” “men” (and living reactionary existences opposed to trans lesbianism) but the vast majority have been forced to reject their own womanhood, just like I was.
This low-key reads like bait but I'll give a genuine response.
I think it's wrong to imply that most gay men are actually trans fem. I just don't think that's true and ultimately an unhelpful framework. I understand you are pointing at something more specific here that I do think is interesting.
The identity of a gay (or in personal anecdotes) bi identity is very common with in the closet trans woman. It is always a connection to a broader queer identity and community that many young trans women want.
I don't think one queer identity is inherently more radical than others. Regardless of one's personal thoughts on this topic there is no good answer. There are certainly certain queer people who experience a higher level of intersectional oppression and it's important to keep that in mind. While also not opening a bottomless argument that gets us nowhere.
Final thoughts but I think your phrasing of these two terms as similar is also flawed. While both are blatantly homophobic/transphobic and have a specific character attached there is still just a huge difference. "Femboy" as a term is inherently used a wide scale to deny trans-feminity to trans women. While, at least in my personal experience, I have not seen "gay boy" used in the same way. A term I think you may be looking for is "sissy" while it is not a popular term anymore it is also a historically homophobic word that has become shorthand for tranny.
Please also if you wish to talk about this more don't send me the most inflammatory first sentence of an ask. They are going to old yeller my ass
many of you are afraid to admit that the patriarchy isnt stored in the penis and receiving male privilege is directly tied to how well your performance of masculinity matches the the mythology of masculinity

I'm tired of being a minority, we should make a transnificator machine that turns the whole world trans.
so Chevalier d'Eon wrote her whole autobiography describing herself as a woman forced to play a male role, but yall calling her "they" cause she didn't like to wear dresses? gimme a break
friendly reminder that no trans person is exempt from transmisogyny :3
