#transit maps

Since the South Shore Line's Monon Corridor is opening this week, I figured it's time to make an updated map of Chicago's regional rail! Compared to my 2018 map, I've removed the CTA and added both Amtrak and the full South Shore Line, and this now shows the new fare zones. It's striking to see just how small the Monon Corridor is relative to the rest of the network, but it's still cool to see that it's possible for the US to build new electric regional rail.

Pinehurst is also covered by a Coming Soon sticker. Will that get a new sticker instead?

I had a go at making a map that shows all the individual tracks and platforms in use on Sydney's heavy rail network! Inspired by a 1928 map that did something similar -- though the network has gotten much more complicated since then!

We could have had a return to trains (eventually) if Mayor Pete (yeah he's a bit rat-faced, yeah he could be a good anarchist like his father was, but he's a damn sight better than the fucker replacing him) was secretary of transportation under a Harris administration. We didn't get that, because people wanted to go full fascist.
