I’m fine with trans Flambae, but Trans Robert kills me because that would mean this mf CHOSE to become Robert Robertson III. The only other explanation I’ll accept is if his weirdly progressive yet still misogynistic dad found out he was trans and then Legally changed his name to RR3 before he got the chance to choose a name for himself.
(Either that or he just dngaf and decided to name his kid RR3 regardless of sex which I could totally see him doing and did everything in his power to help his son transition while barely being present because dear god did that man want a son but none of the responsibilities that came with having a kid)
Thinkin’ about Robert’s childhood within a transfem reading all the neglect and verbal abuse from her father becomes way more depressing. Like imagine: Your dad isn’t around, when he is around he yells at you for being too soft, or unmanly, or weak. You start believing he might be around more if you were a better man, but you just can’t be. And then he dies. You take on the most manly version of your name you can, you’re mature and adult about it. Part of you wonders if he might still be here if you’d just managed to man up.
My baby…
EXACTLYYYYY you get itttt
Just imagine, like- You are Robert Robertson III. Your father is one of if not the most iconic heroes of his generation, as was his father, your grandfather. Your family legacy is being Mecha Man, being Strong. (Being masculine.)
You learn more about your dad through television broadcasts than you ever do by talking to him.
Your dad spends any time the two of you have together training you to be a hero yourself. Grooming you into being his successor. It's rigorous, almost clinical. He trains you on calisthenics, cardio, weight routines. He teaches you how to fight by getting in the ring with you himself. You either get better or you get hurt.
You learn not to cry. (That's for weaklings pussies women civilians. You're a man hero)
You insist your name is Robert. Not Robbie, not Bobby, Robert. You're serious. You love your dad, and you have to show him you're serious.
Most of your social circle is your father's coworkers because you don't have many friends your age. They're a team, they save the day. You want to be just like them, one day, but how much of that is because you want to be a hero and how much of that is because your dad wants it?
It doesn't matter because one of them shoots him. He's dead without you ever getting to know who he was, without him ever getting to know you. You can't stand being around any of the Brigaders because it's too painful. You lose what few social connections you had, and you're left with a multi-million dollar inheritance and a family legacy.
So you do what you know, and become a Mecha Man. A hero, like your dad. A man, like your dad. It's all you've ever been good for, anyways. You assume you'll die in the suit like he did so you don't spend much on yourself. You take on gang violence, trying to destroy the network of the man who killed your father. You never leave Torrence so you can keep an eye on him. You dedicate your life to being good enough at being a man that maybe, maybe, just maybe your dad would think you're doing enough.
Fifteen years go by and you're holding yourself together with duct tape and WD-40, your entire filipendulous existence centered around being Mecha Man as you watch that slowly slip out from under you. You learn that Shroud escaped and you know that this is it, this is the purpose of your life, to be the man your father wasn't and avenge his killer.
Instead, he nearly kills you and destroys the mech. As it blows up, the last thing you think is that this is it, this is you completing the family legacy. You expect to die, because that's all you were ever going to do.
Instead you wake up four months later from a coma and are offered a new chance at life. You didn't have to die. Maybe you don't have to be Mecha Man, either. Maybe you don't even have to be a man.
Hi Robert from Enchanted (2007) is trans I will not elaborate
GARBAGE PHENOMAMECH FANFIC!
Before notes: weird roomate thing going on here, this ‘chapter’ is just robert inviting phm to stay bc hes guilty about letting him loose his job, also robert refers to himself as mechaman in internal monologue. Next one is gonna be phm packing his shit probably
