I'd be honored to! 😼 buckle up because this will be a long one 🙏 and as always, thank you for the question!

(Also don't worry, I'm just a little busy at the moment, the reason I've not been posting as much is mainly because I have no ideas or the drawings I made are not fit for tumblr😭)

John has figured out pretty early on that he'd rather be a Prince than a Princess. But he never really told anyone about it, since his parents were mostly focused on Richard and he was just left to his own devices most of the time. But this also allowed him to slowly establish himself as the Prince of England and not a princess to the common folk.

Richard found out about it when John was trying to cut his hair short alone in his room and Richard happened to walk in. Instead of yelling at him like John expected, Richard calmly asked him about it and John finally admitted through tears he didn't want to be his sister but his brother. Richard at this time was friends with Eden, who is genderfluid, so he was already pretty used to this stuff and has been extremely supportive with John wanting this, offered to cut his hair for him and get him a new set of clothes. When he asked him what he wanted to be called, the answer was John. (Also, yes, John's hair used to be almost as curly as Maryan's hair, but he started to brush them out the older he got)

Richard mainly did all the work for John, and since he was pretty young, it was easy for Richard to convince everyone that King Henry and Queen Eleanor had another son instead of a daughter. In short, Richard gaslit an entire nation into thinking there was another prince instead of a princess.

This next part is a bit difficult to explain, but once Richard became King, he decided to find a way to physically help John transition as well. He knew about witchcraft and knew where to find people that could help him, especially since him and Eden had encountered and helped certain beings, so one day he went to find one of these magical beings and cashed in that favor. However, transforming a human body is hard and will leave scars and marks, which is why John has the typical top surgery scars.

John still feels gender dysphoria a lot of times, especially because of his scars and because he feels the need to keep them a secret at all times. Richard is the only person he can talk to about this, which is a problem when Richard is gone half the time or when Richard and him are on bad terms. But nonetheless, Richard is always open to talk about it whenever John needs to.

The villagers mainly do not remember John was ever a girl, only some people still rememeber that there used to be another princess. However, since Eleanor and Henry had multiple sons and daughters, many assumed that Prince John was just not 'puplically announced' until they were certain he wouldn't die as a baby. Maryan kind of suspects it but has never really talked about it with John. The only other person to find out about it is Robin (but I will go into this in a different post someday)

I don't headcanon Trans John (since he has a biological daughter, a canon picture of him as a kid and stuff) but the thought that if he was actually trans he would kept the mustache because it was the first time he felt a massive gender euphoria simply perturbs my brain
