Imagine if trains were animals that had to be trained to work as trains by train trainers.
Last night I dreamt that I was in London and JESS was in London as well. She had been at a girl's school of some sort in Ireland (I am thinking Kylemore Abbey was the model my brain used, except the landscape was much greener than one finds out in the Connemara in the far west. I mean, there were trees and such.), which was all gothic in its sweep.
We either met there and went to London together or met in London, but somehow I had been there too. Trains were involved.
I think this was actually Dickensian London, honestly, as it was all smokestacks and close streets and TRAINS and steam. Jess was flying home in a couple of days, but I was staying. We, however, decided that we had seen enough of London and were going to take a quick trip through Europe (on another train, yes) before she had to go home.
The map of Europe in my dream was very pre-unificiation of Germany (the 1871 unification), full of weird, puzzle-piece principalities with crawling amoeba borders and needle-toothed mountains through which we could apparently travel easily in a couple of days, getting off the train and wandering through mountain villages or aging chateaux and the like for an hour or three before popping back on the train and enjoying a glass of Bordeaux while the world slipped past the windows of our compartment like water.
