As much as I wave Tree around as bfdi's potential man, Marker isn't safe from that title either.
Marker, unlike his friend, actually gave us a taste of what nuance he could have in TPOT 16, the end of TPOT 17 and his scene with Liy in TPOT 19. Even a bit of TPOT 21 shows his trust. But it's not there for the most part since he's been thrown into a post-apocalyptic wasteland of a planet with all his friends gone.
They painted a picture of someone who felt so defined by trust. He paraded around the Trust part of Death P.A.C.T, something none of the other members rlly did. He was willing to trust others and was hurt when that trust was broken. He would, however break other's trust in himself for the sake of his team, who he cherishes. He audibly replies with "trust" when Tree gives him his token. He gives it away when his life is in danger, showing his trust yet again, and how he's willing to sacrifice even his own belongings for the sake of his team, yet is killed regardless. Despite the betrayal, he still finds it in himself to continue trusting others.
That is SUCH AN INTERESTING IDEA OF A CHARACTER. I always wondered what would make him draw the line in terms of trust. How much would he be willing to take away before he's not really trustworthy? How much would he be willing to be taken from before he can't trust someone anymore? What would happen if he made it to merge? It's even better considering he is a silly character. He could've been the first character in TPOT to be a good blend of comedy and nuance.
Then TPOT 23 comes out and he's making a song abt Black Hole. No shade to the song, but why? This wasn't necessary at all. If it was to showcase his trust in BH, we already know that. We know he's trusting in his team. Why doesn't he mention the others? Why isn't he worried about any of them? He screams out to be saved yet never says a word abt saving others? 'The guy who does everything he can for his team'™️ ends up being simplified to Black Hole's cheerleader. And knowing JnJ and their recent character fumbles, I would be upset, but not surprised if this is all Marker will be reduced into being for a while.
TL;DR: Marker is a Potential Man, since he could've been a great mix of nuance and humor, but got his nuance chucked out the window, into the cold vacuum of space and replaced with a boombox to blast his Black Hole song.
