Falling through the clouds
Eric Brady x reader
A weekend getaway was supposed to be simple.
Just you and Eric Brady escaping Salem for a few quiet days together — no family drama, no emergencies, no chaos.
But thirty thousand feet in the air, everything changes.
When violent turbulence turns into a nightmare and the plane begins to fall, Eric is forced to face the terrifying possibility of losing the person he loves most.
Trapped in the wreckage after the crash, injured and terrified, you become the only thing keeping him grounded while rescue teams race against time to find survivors.
Warnings: Heavy angst, emotional comfort, protective Eric, tears, fear, and a deeply tender happy ending.
A/N: Let me know what you think 🫶
Requests are open 💞
The first sign something was wrong was the screaming.
Not yours.
Not Eric’s.
Someone several rows behind you gasped sharply just as the plane lurched violently sideways.
Your hand immediately grabbed the armrest.
“What was that?”
Across the aisle, Eric Brady looked up from his magazine, concern flashing across his face.
Probably turbulence.
That’s what you tried telling yourself.
Then the plane dropped suddenly.
Your stomach flipped violently.
Passengers cried out around you.
Overhead compartments rattled.
A baby started screaming somewhere near the back.
Eric unbuckled instinctively before the seatbelt sign even finished flashing.
“Eric—”
“I’m coming over there.”
Another violent shake cut you off.
The lights flickered.
Your heart started pounding immediately.
This wasn’t normal turbulence.
Not even close.
The flight attendants were trying to stay calm, but you could see the fear in their faces now too.
That terrified you more than anything else.
Eric slid into the seat beside you just as the oxygen masks dropped from the ceiling.
Panic exploded throughout the cabin.
“Oh my God,” you whispered shakily.
“Hey.” Eric grabbed your face gently, forcing your eyes to his. “Look at me.”
Your breathing was already becoming uneven.
“We’re okay.”
But even he sounded unsure.
The plane shook again—hard enough this time that someone screamed near the front.
Metal creaked loudly beneath your feet.
Then came the captain’s voice.
Distorted.
Panicked.
“Brace for impact.”
Your entire body went cold.
Eric’s hand immediately crushed yours.
“No, no, no—”
“Listen to me.” His voice shook now too. “I need you to stay with me, okay?”
Tears filled your eyes instantly.
The plane tilted sharply downward.
People were crying.
Praying.
Screaming.
And suddenly Eric pulled you against him tightly.
One arm wrapped protectively around your head.
The other gripping your hand so tightly it almost hurt.
“I love you,” he whispered desperately against your hair.
The engines roared horribly.
Then everything happened at once.
A deafening crash.
Metal tearing apart.
The violent snap of impact throwing everybody forward.
Your head slammed painfully against something hard.
Glass shattered somewhere nearby.
The world spun violently—
And then everything went black.
⸻
When consciousness returned, it came slowly.
Painfully.
Smoke filled the air.
Your ears rang loudly enough to make everything else sound muffled.
You blinked weakly.
Broken seats.
Twisted metal.
Emergency lights flashing red through the wreckage.
Your chest tightened in panic instantly.
“Eric?”
No answer.
Fear shot through you so fast it hurt.
You tried sitting up—
And hissed immediately as pain flared through your shoulder.
Nothing serious.
Just bruised.
Maybe cut a little.
But adrenaline made everything feel worse.
“Eric!”
Then suddenly—
“Baby?”
Relief nearly made you cry.
A few rows ahead, Eric pushed himself up from the wreckage, blood running from a cut near his temple.
The second he saw you awake, his entire expression cracked with relief.
“Oh thank God.”
He stumbled toward you immediately despite the unstable wreckage.
The moment he reached you, his hands were everywhere at once.
Checking your face.
Your arms.
Your shoulders.
“Are you hurt?”
“I’m okay,” you whispered shakily.
“You’re bleeding.”
“So are you.”
“I’m fine.”
Typical Eric.
You almost laughed despite everything.
His hands trembled while brushing hair away from your face.
And that’s when you realized—
He’d been terrified.
Absolutely terrified.
His forehead pressed against yours briefly.
“I thought I lost you.”
The raw emotion in his voice shattered your heart.
Tears filled your eyes immediately.
“You didn’t.”
For several seconds, he just held you tightly while chaos echoed around the wreckage.
Sirens sounded faintly in the distance now.
Rescue teams.
People were moving outside.
You were going to survive.
Eric pulled back just enough to look at you again.
“You scared me to death.”
You gave him a watery smile.
“You’re kind of bleeding all over me right now.”
A startled laugh escaped him unexpectedly.
Half hysterical.
Half relieved.
“There she is.”
You smiled weakly.
Then suddenly winced again holding your shoulder.
Eric’s expression changed instantly.
“What hurts?”
“Just my shoulder.”
“Can you move it?”
You carefully lifted your arm.
Painful.
But manageable.
“I think it’s just bruised.”
Eric visibly relaxed a little.
Thank God.
Because if you had been seriously hurt, he might’ve completely fallen apart.
Outside, emergency crews finally reached the wreckage.
Voices shouted directions.
Flashlights swept through the broken cabin.
And suddenly the overwhelming reality hit you both at once.
You survived.
You actually survived.
Eric cupped your face carefully, eyes shining with tears he wasn’t even trying to hide anymore.
“We’re never flying again.”
A soft laugh escaped you.
“Deal.”
Then he kissed you.
Slow.
Shaky.
Emotional enough to nearly make you cry again.
Not because everything was okay yet.
But because you were both still here.
Still breathing.
Still together.
And somehow, after falling out of the sky—
That felt like a miracle.
