#touchy feely

The wind through the windows pulling at our hair, dirty feet on the console, shoes forgotten. The roads wind and turn, a bump followed by a small laugh. Music playing from the speaks too loud but our voices louder still. First it's fast and strong like a hurricane, then slow and soft like a meadow but each makes us sway or nod to it. Someone makes a joke and the space is full of laughter. We stop at the diner, so loud everyone is staring but we're oblivious in each other's voices. We all pay the tab, not a word needing to be shared who should pay and not a penny ever returned unwanted. Back in the car, tunes loud, voices high, the sun sets and your faces are bathed in gold like angels, the moment slows for us just happy in each others company and suddenly life is a little bit more bearable and time doesn't exist.
