Hyde looked up from his book and rolled his eyes. "For the last time, I don't care who Jackie is dating, sleeping with, or having a coffee with on Rio Dio Drive."

Hyde did his best to keep his face impassive. Because every word was total bullshit. He cared desperately. He poured over media about her. He had a secret Instagram Account so he could keep track of her. He had seen every movie she had starred in. Despite it being 5 years since he had laid eyes on Jackie outside of a movie screen, social media or the cover of a glossy magazine he was still in love with her. He regretted everyday that he let her leave. He had gotten secret pleasure out of her relationships being short and shallow. So he wasn't too worried about what Forman was going to shove in his face.

"Well you're going to care now!"

Eric pushed his phone in front of Hyde and rocked his world.

"Dude she is dating Rafe McKenna! And according to his Instagram it's been going on for nearly a year. They took it public."

Hyde's mouth dropped open in shock. There sitting on the beach with sun setting behind her with a huge smile on her face was Jackie. It stung to see her so happy. A happy that had nothing to do with him. Even worse was she was wrapped around Rafe McKenna the lead singer and guitar player of his favorite band Everest. What made it nearly in tolerable was a guy who was known for being grumpy, anti celebrity, rarely gave interviews, and was a musical genius was grinning like a fool. A fool in love. Underneath the picture was the caption.

He felt like he had been punched in the stomach. It was from the song "Calico Eyes" It was off their new album. He had thought of Jackie instantly. It was a rare softer song from the band. A completely different type of album. He had to listened to it on repeat on Spotify. It didn't just make him think about her. It was about her. It dawned on him that the whole damn album was Rafe's love for Jackie.

Eric was sorry he had dropped the news on Hyde like a bomb instead of easing in after seeing his face. Hyde had gone white.

"You okay man?"

Hyde stuttered out "why wouldn't I be?"

"Come on Hyde. This isn't some pretty boy Kelso kind of guy....."

Before he could finish as if on cue Kelso came roaring into the apartment.

"Did you guys see who Jackie is with?"

Listening to the new Saga for Epic the Musical and its got me thinking—

Okay for a little background context for ppl who havent read or listened to the Odyssey/Epic Odysseus is MC and over the course of his journey, he blames ppl (monsters, for thematic effect)for doing horrible things, although they were protecting themselves and their family. And at the end of the newest saga, he realizes this, and goes “what if im the monster” in reference to all the horrible shit HE’S done, and THEN, he goes “yea i have to be the monster” to get him and his men home, mainly Him so he can see his wife and son again.

(“If I became the monster to everyone but us / And made sure we got home again / Who would care if we're unjust?”)

Getting TO THE POINT, I want Adolin to have an Odysseus level character development. I want him to stop worrying about what Dalinar thinks is right, what the Knight Radiants think is right, etc. and realize that just because you’re ACTING honorable and having good morals, doesn’t mean that the world will cater to that and sometimes you HAVE to do bad shit to get to your goals

Although i DESPISE all three of them, Sadeas, Gavilar, and Amaram understood this. Those three died because they meddled in shit they weren’t supposed to, (Gavilar w the.. all of it, Amaram w the sons of Honor, Sadeas with insulting Dalinar in front of Adolin) like if those three ppl had had foresight and aligned themselves properly, they would still be alive.

And rlly the only reason Dalinar remembers the Rift is bc he killed his wife. I would bet some money that if his wife didn’t die there, he would just file it away under “horrible shit i did during the war” and never gone to the Valley, etc.
