@jesselauzon If you collect things (please tell me that you collect things?) then youāll already know that there are a myriad of ways to justify a find. The first, and my personal favourite technique, is by price: those finds that are irresistibly affordable are, well, irresistible, and therefore require little (if any) justification. Thereās also scarcity: the āI never come across theseā or the āIāve never ever seen one like itā test. And then thereās the familiarity justification: āmy Mom had one just like this!ā - one doesnāt resist a find inspired by familiarity, thatās an emotionally impossible one to resist. And, to be sure, we cannot forget the āsetā test, another favourite justifier which sounds a little something like āoooh this will help me complete my set!ā If you collect things (please tell me that you collect?), then Iām sure youāve heard yourself say (exclaim?) at least one of these before and if you stand still inside an antiques shop (is that even possible?) long enough, you will no doubt be treated to a symphony of overheard justifications just like these. Thems just the rules of collecting (I donāt make these rules up, I swear) and rules are important. Especially if you collect things (you collect things, yes?). Yes.
