Ok the book is epicsauce fantastic👌It keeps you on the edge of your seat from the start and doesn't stop and just when you're thinking "I know how this story will end" no you don't.

btw legit dont read it if you don't like gruesome and or can't put up with really disgusting stuff at all. I'm not saying that to be edgy, its an important thing to consider and of course I don't condone anything those sailors do in the story needless to say. No not even the protag he fucking sucks ass too. That's kinda the fun part, everyone stinks (literally) (theyre pirates) (nobody showers ever)

The story focuses a lot on the slave trade and colonialism bits. This is great bc a lot of media revolving around pirates and navigation in general (at least the ones I've stumbled across while looking for something interesting to read and watch, note this doesn't include history books and articles) sorta glorifies this type of adventurer, leaving those topics pretty much unaccounted for which is annoying and in my opinion borderline disrespectful. Not that this specific title doesn't try to make you sympathize with these dudes at least for a few moments (only to then remind you why you shouldn't count on them to hold up to your standards), but it feels slightly more realistic than other pieces of fiction w the same theme
