She had been feeling sick for at least a week, but it had only been nausea, so she hadn’t thought much of it. If she went too long without blood, it was bound to happen, so she had pushed it to the back of her mind. It had been easy to forget that she wasn’t going without it with how frequently available it was now that she was back home.
Then it hit her that she was late.
Torrie had gone out and bought the stupid little test when he wasn’t home and had hidden it when it came back positive. How the hell was she supposed to tell him when she knew for damn sure she wasn’t ready to be a parent. What if he wanted kids? Even a little?
Instead of talking to him, she had started to pull away. It was small at first, becoming a little less snuggly and then progressing to sleeping in a different room. It was easier to just tell him she was sick and that she didn’t want to risk him getting sick too. But she knew she couldn’t keep lying when they had a serious problem. So, she thought it best to just dig out the extra test that had come in the box and take it before wrapping it in plastic and setting out where he would be sure to see it.
