Today marks my 20th anniversary of living in NYC. I’ve definitely been experiencing a nostalgic walk down memory lane thinking about everything that’s happened since I moved here from Boston. From my first duplex apartment at 92nd and 2nd where I lived with two guys, to many nights spent at Dorrian’s and Brother Jimmy’s and occasionally at Elaine’s to feel adult, to all the places that no longer exist like Barney’s, Bendel’s, Florent, 21 Club, and Takashimaya. Not to mention all the parties, events, fashion shows I’ve attended over the years and all the friends I’ve made and men I’ve dated. More importantly, I remember walked to my corporate office job one day and thinking about how I would never make more money until I figured out how to work for myself. Cut to late 2008 when I did just that and never looked back thanks to the blog I started in 2007. I also owe a lot to @lexonomstyle for giving me my first solo interior design project and @wesdelval for working with me on my first book that was published in 2012. It feels good to look back and see how many things I’ve accomplished and how much I owe to this city. It’s one of the reasons I never even thought about leaving like so many people have done in the past year.
