so i did some βresearchβ (lmao) and yeah, thereβs a high likelihood that the images weβve seen in the last few days are largely ai generated.
top war is a free-play mobile game that relies solely on advertising and in app purchases to make money. the chances of them being both able to a) pay capcom for their ip, and b) pay artists, is slim considering these income modes.
the game itself has regularly been accused of using ai images in-app and has not made a statement one way or the other (that i can find). the also openly use some form of generative ai as the gameplay model.
the recent promo images are at least partially ai:
Chrisβs hands are morphing into one, and I have no idea what that says on Jillβs beret but it certainly ainβt βRaccoon Police Deptβ.
i suspect they are ai trained on capcomβs images.
capcom itself has also not mentioned this collab anywhere (pls correct me if wrong). the video from the other day certainly looked convincing but I am not up to date on how good ai videoing is now and afaik this kind of stuff is easily generated once you have the base, either stolen or through legit means.
on that note, why would Capcom even sell their imaging to a low-budget mobile game when theyβre in the middle of remaking these games and associated imagery themselves. Just seems odd imo, and with ai being what it is I thinkβ¦ ai is the culprit here. also apparently the RE stuff isnβt even appearing in the app so I suspect itβs all a marketing ploy, but seems an odd choice to rip off Capcom of all companies, considering their size and legal team size π€·πΌββοΈ
