A million thoughts raced through her brain as she looked at the baby in her arms.
Tonks had always been her fatherâs daughter, through and through. That wasnât to say that she didnât love and appreciate her mother, Andromeda, and everything the woman did for their small family. She didâhowever, there always had been something about her father. She had always been the apple of his eye, and even though he was gone, he would still be remembered in her eyes and she would not forget him due to the baby that was laying in her arms. Her son. The son that she shared with Remus.
She didnât know how much of a mother she would be; She had never taken it into consideration. Hogwarts had been her rebellious years, the years that she had questioned anything and anybodyâNow that she was older and wiser, Tonks had questioned if she had wanted children, and even though she loved Remus with her whole entire soul; She sometimes wondered if she was fit to be a mother to such a soul like the one she was holding. She couldnât help but wish that her father was here to help her, to guide her, but he wasnât. He had long since been killed by Snatcherâs and it was over.
He was goneâand Tonks was a mother now, this was who she was.
Ted Tonks, her father, had been a good man. He had been somebody that she had looked up to immensely. Both her parents were ideal role models, but Tonks had definitely gotten her hilarity and humorous attitude from her father. Her quirks and her rebellious nature were also something that she had gained from Ted as wellâNow that he was gone, she couldnât help but dwell on the fact that she might not have been the ideal daughter to him and her motherâshe could have been more. She could have been better.
The blue blanket was wrapped around him, and Tonks couldnât help but let her half-smile curl around her lips. Remus was asleep in the chair, and he had refused to leave them, something that made Tonksâ heart swarm with joy. It had taken a lot to get to this point; Remus not wanting to leave and cower in fear due to being afraid of getting too close to Tonks. He was afraid he would hurt her; he was afraid he would hurt their child, however, Tonks had to explain that they were his familyâthey were everything to him. After explaining things to him and the death of her father, Remus finally came around.
âRemusââ
Tonks said in a soft voice, not wanting to startle him but also wanting to get his attention. Pink hair in tufts on her head, and her eyes looking at the man she loved with sleepiness in them, she couldnât help but look between him and the baby that laid in her arms; The baby that kept looking up at her with admiring eyes. She had never seen somebody look at her with such awe, nobody except Remus. Like father, like son.
âWhatâs wrong?â Remus replied in a hurry, getting up from his seat to aid her in whatever possible way. He was always at her beck and callâthat didnât change once she had become pregnant, nor did it change once she had given birth. He loved herâhe cared for herâsomething Tonks often questioned if she deserved. Her eyes smiled; A genuine smile, and she brought her free hand up to his cheek to rest upon it. They didnât show affection too often, however, when they didâTonks wanted him to know that he was truly loved.
âNothingâI want to name him after my father. Teddy.â She said with smile. Her eyes were smiling, and now were her lips. She looked at her love, and she brought her hand back down and adjusted the blue blanket. It would be the ideal way to honor her fatherâthe man that had shown her ropes to being herself.
She looked at Remus, and she waited for his response, until she heard footsteps, and she smiled when she saw her mother come into the room.
âThereâs Grandmum!â She said with a smile, and she let looked at her mum with patience, happiness, and also a bit of relief. She was happy to have her mother stillâthe woman that had given birth to her, the woman that still relentlessly called her Nymphadora; However, she knew Andromeda would never be over the death of Ted. Just like Tonks would never be over the death of Remus if something happened to him.
Loveâit was infinite.
