Nongshim Premium Tonkotsu Ramen with Black Garlic Oil

Taste 7/10 I love garlic, I really really love garlic. So no surprise I quite like the garlic ramen. The oil and slices(!!!) of dehydrated garlic go so well with the tonkotsu broth without completely overpowering everything. The instructions leave the noodles perfectly cooked to my liking and they even give you a time guide if you like you noodles more or less al dente.

Price 5/10 I bought this for $2.20 But the price seems to range from $2 to $2.40 and honestly I think what I paid was worth it. The broth packet was downright girthy, it came with good tasting oil, the noodles seemed to be pre-seasoned and it came with a decent amount of dried vegetables. (Actual real garlic slices!) Which is basically all I ask for from a pricier instant noodle.

Looks 4/10 I assure you I took multiple pictures in different lighting and this was the best I could do. This is just not a photogenic bowl of ramen. In person the broth is milky and rich looking and the oil speckles across the noodles very nicely. What's giving this a really big hit is the packaging. I hate 'premium' branding and here it's no less slimy. It makes me feel like they just haphazardly tossed a fancy ingredient on one of their existing products and called it a day instead of putting effort into just making a good product.

Overall 7/10 Hey! I hear you shouting over my mind palaces walls. Why is this so high even though it's average in two of three categories. Well, I liked this, a lot. And I feel like flavor has carried it most of the way here, so why not give it a pat on the back before I send it off never to be eaten again.
