how much does kasumi stick to her morality? is there anything that can sway her away from her beliefs and towards another's easily? is it grey? is it straightforward? thinking emoji

to be very frank? kasumi doesn’t really quite have a defined set of morals– at least, not at the beginning of the game. she grew up in a very abusive household where she was the recipient of physical and verbal abuse at the hands of both of her parents and this led to a very damaged way of thinking and a distorted perspective on the world. kasumi had very little interest in being a gymnast and was never even particularly talented in it, but her parents were insistent that she become one and forced her to work incredibly hard for it, which led to her becoming as skilled in the sport as she is now, but it had a very strong impact on her. she’s basically accepted the fact that she has little to no control over her own life and will always serve as her parents’ puppet that they can live vicariously from. a great majority of her decisions are influenced by whether or not they’ll please her parents, since that’s the only thing she really cares about anymore.
however, kasumi is an extremely selfless person, and not just to her parents– she prioritizes the well-being of literally anyone she meets over her own. she lives her life as basically a doormat to others, so desperate to be liked and cared for by others that she’ll basically do whatever they ask of her in the hopes that that will make them want to be her friend. like, there’s very little limit to what she won’t do, and in a sense, that really is her moral code. she doesn’t care about ethics or anything– all she wants is to do what it takes to make people want her around.
HOWEVER! that changes a LOT after she meets goro. her partnering with him and, eventually the phantom thieves, is the first action that she takes where she doesn’t stop and ask herself if her parents would approve, but instead says “ hey, this is what i want to do, so i’m going to do it. ” she joins him some time after madarame’s palace, when the phantom thieves start to garner more publicity and goro acknowledges them. the details around are kind of tricky and i haven’t figured everything out yet, but basically she accidentally follows him into the metaverse and he is able to recognize her potential as a persona user and enlists her help for the sake of his fake justice. in a way, goro pretty much gives kasumi her morality-- he’s able to convince her that the phantom thieves are wrong and need to be eradicated for whatever reason i haven’t figured out yet and that what they’re doing together ( causing mental shutdowns and killing people ) is right and just. and kasumi genuinely believes that what she’s doing is the right thing that she’s doing for herself, although on some subconscious level she probably recognizes that she’s being manipulated, but refuses to see it.
so kasumi’s morality? basically nonexistent until she meets goro, and then it’s very black - and - white, we’re the good guys, they’re the bad guys, and i’ll do anything to put a stop to them.
