“It’s not that bad.” Todd replies, despite is own growing weariness. The atmosphere was tense and quiet, the only sounds being the television and the occasional comment from either of you.

You turn to Todd, “Do you want anymore drinks or popcorn?”

Todd smirked knowingly, “Are you just offering so you can leave the room?”

“Shut up…” You murmur, despite the growing smile that tugged at the corners of your mouth. Getting up, you head to the kitchen to microwave some more popcorn.

As the popcorn began to cook in the microwave, the first ‘pop’ caught you off guard, making you squeal with surprise. Todd came rushing in, “What’s up?” He asked with his protective guard up.

“Nothing.” You sigh. “I guess I’m just a little jumpy with the whole ordeal.”

“Ordeal.. you mean the movie?” Todd softens, “You don’t like scary movies..” The way he spoke suggested it was a statement rather than a question.

You nod your head sheepishly. A soft smile spread onto Todd’s face, “Come on; come sit back down. We can watch something else.”

“Are you sure? Because I don’t wanna be a pain-”

“You’re not a pain.” Todd chuckles, cutting you off. He kisses your cheek with tenderness, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear. “I love you, honey; and I don’t want you to sit through something you don’t like.” He reassured.

“Thank you,” you whisper softly.

Todd smiles again in return, “Anything for my darling.”

He leads you over to the couch again, having changed it to a lighthearted movie. “Better?” He whispers against your hair, his arms wrapped snugly around you.

“Yeah,” you smile, “a lot better.”

Todd kisses your temple and cheek a few times, peppering his lips over your face and neck.

“Todd!” You giggle, “Stop that!”

Todd preens at your laughter, eventually slowing down to hold you. His heart swells at the sound.
