This #MistleyWalls swan was not a happy creature. Maybe it didn't like its picture being taken, or perhaps it had just had a bad day. It decided that my wife wasn't allowed to look at the nearby plaque and began hissing and pecking at her. #TodaysWalk
The Lake Meadows Giant
The #LakeMeadows giant. A redwood planted sometime after 1852, and estimated to be 170 years old. History and nature makes for a great #TodaysWalk
See https://www.redwoodworld.co.uk/picturepages/billericay2.htm for more on our red woods.
Seen in #MillMeadows on #Todays walk. The plant identifier says it's a Chokecherry.
#TodaysWalk, a visit to Warley Place to see the daffodils, and other spring bulbs. More here: 3cephas.blogspot.com/2026/02/warl...

On a lovely bright late winter day we visited Belhus Woods Country Park to look for a more extensive view of snowdrops. Sadly, there were only a few clumps near the entrance. After an hour's walk, we had a cup of tea and watched the birds on their bird tables. As I was quite far away, it's a case of 'spot the birdy'. You'll have to zoom in, I expect. #TodaysWalk
Between the road and the path in #MillMeadows, behind the barbed wire fence, behind the brambles, the first sign of spring - the snowdrops - are in full bloom. #TodaysWalk
It's never good to see rubbish dumped in #MillMeadows. An old mower is a bit much though. #TodaysWalk
