Before any continuing investigation into this matter, I might be going off script ( canon verse ++ personality wise ) and I am here to say I really dgaf if this is not the canon side because this is my friggin blog and I do whatever I friggin want
I feel like when tobyliu actually started dating they were definitely in a private ( more secretive than private tho ) relationship and when they did eventually come out as a couple. It definitely brought a lot of mixed feelings for those who tobyliu told.
First, for Liu. I think others would feel pity for him and think he’s having a stroke because; really? Tobias Erin Rogers? Is that who Liu actually decided to date? Out of every other man/woman there was, Liu decided to date the worst person on earth. That guy most likely hated his whole life if he really decided to date the man who is obnoxiously annoying.
Second, for Toby. Yeah, everyone is happy he finally got to have someone who actually can handle him ( sometimes ) and how they don’t have to deal with Toby’s messes anymore. They cheer for Liu for finally taking Toby off of their hands and glad that Liu is now the one to suffer the problems of Toby.
I think they would be annoyed somehow by how everyone reacted to their upcoming announcement of their relationship. Maybe more Liu since he didn’t expect to have pity while Toby got cheered off. Liu just brushed it off though since he did understand what people meant and why people wanted Toby to finally get into a committed relationship.
to add more in where people are just shocked in Liu dating Toby. It would be a shock, yes. but then again, it wouldn’t be that shocking once they actually take a good look in both of their buddies (?)
They would not except that the two most random people would actually meet each other and have the guts to even continue talking to each other. I think it’s just mostly their personalities, it’s quite different and yep. that’s all.
