Little bit of my personal take in Steve and Douxie dynamics.
I mentioned earlier, and I will repeat it again! I do love this duo. Steve and Douxie develop a best friend / brother like relationship. Where there is one, you find the other. Douxie doesn’t know when exactly happened, he doesn’t recall starting a friendship with a knight, Steve just- seemed to have appeared one day, and he never left. Over the years, Knight Palchuck grew, and the master wizard stayed as his young immortal self.
Steve evolution as a character is wild, chaotic, and I just love how he slowly grows into the caretaker of the group. And as a caretaker, he is there, when Douxie needs him the most. Hisirdoux is stubborn when it’s about his self, he doesn’t like to show vulnerability, but with Steve things are different.
It doesn’t matter how many times he tries to push the blond out, he always comes back, he is always there to support him and hold his hand. Douxie doesn’t even need to ask, if he needs something, Steve is there to help. And when his magic and health start to fade, Steve is the one who steps in, until the end.
