Notes:

The buried have no eyes for the same reason that moles and worms dont. The dark have eyes but they are deliberately shut, hilighting the absence/removal of vision and clarity.

The desolation have very bright eyes like the color of wax.

The primal fear of the dark and the unknowns regarding what lurks within it. Who isn't a little bit afraid of the dark?

Right on time for Halloween! We've got Virgil next in my series of Sides as TMA Fear Avatars!

Virgil is a wonderful mixed bag of fears, as of course you cannot condense Anxiety into a single category, but for his prime manifestation I found him most suited to the Dark.

Virgil, if not wearing clothes, simply appears to the shape of a human cut out of the universe, leaving merely a void in its wake, with just a sliver of a smile visible. His darkness oozes from his form, soaking the surroundings and leaving them in permanent shadow, perfect of other terrors to take root.

for the purpose of categorizing my notes and shit, I made little symbols and assigned colors to each of the entities. if you look at any of my tma art these colors are probably present somewhere. I wanted them to be super bold so they could stand out when needed, but can also just be used as a wash or a little bit of color and still be recognizable. idk if that makes sense.

ive considered changing the lonely one into an astronaut helmet but honestly I think that's too detail dense but if I try to simplify it it'll just look like a fishbowl. Also I know I know fog but I wanted them to be mostly symmetrical and I honestly just couldn't get it to look good. I quite like what I finally came up with tho. it really fits the vibe of 'THE FORSAKEN' to me

also thought about changing the buried to be a coffin and I'm still torn about that. i feel like it could be confused for the end idk

Well I have come up with a similar concept but for the avatars in The Magnus Archives with each floor belonging to a different fear, and I have my reasoning for which ones should go where. Refer to picture below.

So, the Vast would obviously get the highest floor for vertigo and easy access to the sky with some open roof parts. I imagine most like to fly (apart from the ocean and field Vast avatars) so they don’t use the stairs often, which leads me to the next floor.

The Lonely is right under the Vast because so many people rarely use the stairs to their floor, so they are mostly left alone, the only trouble is that they have to go up so many stairs to get there.

I also imagine that the Extinction would fit well under the Lonely because there’s not gonna be a whole lot happening on the Extinction floor due to being a new fear with barely any avatars and, well, being the Extinction.

Web, Spiral, Stranger, Desolation, Slaughter, and Flesh are placed with just in what order I feel like the fears are close to each other (like Flesh being able to tank both Slaughter and Hunt avatars, and Spiral, Stranger, Web being deceitful, and Desolation and Stranger has been shown to team up in the podcast.)

I feel like the Hunt would like the first floor off the ground so that they can still jump out windows or stuff like that to chase someone without major damage and have easy access to the door on the ground floor, and the only reason they’re not on the ground is because the Eye gets that spot.

My reasoning for the Eye being on the ground floor instead of high up is because they get to watch every person who walks in and out of the house, keeping tabs on people, and that’s where the most general areas are (I imagine there is a common room or hall for all floors, but the ground floor is where the normal living room, kitchen, libraries, etc are)

The Corruption being the closest to the ground underneath is because that is where all the bugs are, a simple reason.

The End comes next because it’s approximately 6 feet deep (probably more) which is simply a dead person height.

Dark is underground obviously because there is no sunlight, only reason they aren’t on the lowest is because the Buried needs to be there of course.

The Buried at the very bottom for Buried purposes. I don’t think the foundation would be very strong.

I also added a big backyard/garden because they need more room to have stuff happen, and I imagine the Flesh is there for a smaller flesh garden, corruption for the bugs and maybe some beekeeping and help with fertiliser, Buried for digging more holes and teaming up with the End for graves, and the Hunt just runs through and might help keep wildlife away. I imagine the Desolation is also banned from it, or at least highly discouraged to go to the backyard.

PLEASE let this be a thing, I need the Avatar mansion to be a thing so bad but I don’t personally have any fun att or fic ideas

Eye avatar that “sends you to the Eye” (alternate dimension that’s a street filled with people staring at you pointing and whispering and recording you on their phones, CCTV tracking your every movement, TVs in shop windows showing news stories about you/documentaries on embarrassing moments from your life).

Spiral avatar that can make you suddenly wake up in bed and discover that the last x amount of time was actually a dream.

End avatar that makes you rapidly age.

Vast avatar that makes you shrink so that your environment is huge in comparison.

Desolation avatar that causes floods and water damage.

Spiral avatar that causes common paranoid schizophrenic delusions (radio transmitter in your teeth, secret messages hidden in random text, government agents following you, etc.) to actually happen to you.

Stranger avatar that’s a CPR dummy, that bites your tongue off when you use it.

Buried avatar made of living superglue.

Flesh avatar that’s a genetic engineer who changes stuff about your body, or clones you and you can’t tell who’s the clone.

Dark avatar that can appear anywhere that isn’t within anyone’s field of vision.

Web avatar that makes you get really stupid ideas that seem clever at the time.

Eye avatar that can make whatever random post they want go viral, potentially cancelling the poster.
