My saniwa's first outfit iteration reference (I say 'first iteration' because I'm still undecided on the top/ gloves, and I still haven't designed footwear for her ;;)
She used to wear a typical miko outfit alongside a face covering, but once she gained more confidence and was more comfortable around her touken danshi, she switches to this outfit instead.
Hakuzenkou - a blade unlike the rest of the Touken, a Touken who has taken the form of a human female; a Touken Joushi. Hakuzenkou is a Naginata from the Heian Period. She was created in order to celebrate the start of a new beginning for the newly founded Taira clan. Gifted by the clan leader to his wife, she was displayed in her chambers. Hakuzenkou became an heirloom and was passed down to the wives of the new Taira clan leaders. A tradition that was broken by Taira no Tadamori who gave her to his favourite mistress, an onna-bugeisha who served him well as his captain. It was the first time Hakuzenkou was used in combat and given her name which means ‘white flash’.
Hakuzenkou was eventually passed down to her daughter who followed in her mother’s footsteps as a battle maiden. It would be Hakuzenkou’s last master as she fell into the water and drowned during battle. Like her master, Hakuzenkou was swallowed by the waves and fell into a century-long slumber until she was brought back by the Saniwa.
