Daily MCO Drink #723: COLDBREW MARTINI, made with 50ml Belvedere Vodka, 50ml homemade cold brew coffee, 30ml Dolin Rosso sweet vermouth, 2 dashes Angostura Cocoa Bitters, stirred over ice and strained. Happy Espresso Martini Day! We take a break from our regularly scheduled Slow Screw program for a special Espresso Martini Day post! Since I don’t have an espresso machine, I decided to improvise a bit and make an actual Martini-style drink without the coffee liqueur. It’s a mash-up of an espresso martini and a perfect martini (two vermouths), but I substituted the usual dry/secco vermouth for cold brew instead and added some cocoa botters for a bit of chocolatey finish. Daily MCO Drink #722: SLOW COMFORTABLE SCREW AGAINST THE WALL, made with 15ml Southern Comfort, 40ml Belvedere vodka, 15ml Morrison & MacKay Sloe Gin, 15ml Galliano, 100ml orange juice, stirred over ice and strained over clear ice stick from @isipadu_icecompany. “Slow” = Sloe Gin “Comfortable” = Southern Comfort. “Screw” = Screwdriver “Wall” = Harvey Wallbanger Honestly, this is only the second progression from the Slow Screw and I’m already dreading the next. Daily MCO Drink #699: THE CLINT, made with 50ml Campari, 25ml Belvedere Vodka, 1 orange slice, built in an ice-filled glass and topped with soda water. Damn, there goes the last of my Campari. Looks like I’ll need to lay off tbe Negronis for now LOL. Anyway, this is an interesting one. It was supposedly created by a former Secret Service agent named Clint Hill, who was assigned to guard Jackie Kennedy. Hill came up with the drink as a twist of the Negroni, and carries around a card with specific instructions on how to make it. This is a case of the story being far more interesting than the drink, which is a nice summery refreshing drink, kinda like a Campari Spritz but with vodka and soda instead of prosecco. Daily MCO Drink #688: COLD WAR EASIER, made with 30ml Grasovka Zubrowka Bison Grass Vodka, 15ml Penfolds Bin 8 Shiraz Cabernet 2018, 10ml each on lemon juice, Cointreau and Giffard Maraschino liqueur, 1 dash Angostura Aromatic Bitters, shaken over ice and strained. Adapted from a recipe on Difford’s Guide, which in turn was adapted from a drink discovered around 2015 at Danger of Death bar, London. There’s a lot going on here, but the richness of the Penfolds Shiraz Canernet comes through beautifully, with the zubrowka binding all the other flavours together.
