My favourite romance (tiny )tropes
just a bunch of clichés that i love
1. the kiss on the cheek just a tiny peck on the cheek , not out of habit , but not intentional either , a spur of the moment kind of thing! it leaves the cheek owner absolutely star struck and the kisser absolutely mortified.
2. hair ruffle A’s favourite way to show affection is to ruffle B’s hair , B absolutely hates it at first but then finds themselves secretly missing it at times
3. ‘just there’ something on your lip (yes this is totally romione inspired) , it’s a cute and simple way to show that A was , in fact , paying attention to B’s lips , in a non creepy way
4. this reminds me of ... A and B are not dating , yet . they’re at that point , where everything on earth reminds them of the other , a small child holding a balloon , the colour of the sky , how the local cafe didn’t have wooden spoons , EVERYTHING reminds them of the other person . A can be very vocal about it , starts talking about B every chance they get , while B just enjoys thinking about A , making mental notes to tell A about the thing that happened in the grocery store that no one else will understand
5. why aren’t you wearing a jacket? the small sentences that really mean ‘i care!!’ have you eaten breakfast? are you cold? do you wanna leave? is the music bothering you? tiny things , that show that the other is paying attention
6. DEFENCE SQUAD where character A is so quick to defend Character B , sometimes they even do it over nothing. character C once started a sentence with “B’s outfit is ....” , and if A hadn’t jumped in with a 10 minute speech about how other people’s attire is none of C’s business , C would’ve ended the sentence with “very nice”
7. thoughtless little gestures A remembering B’s allergy , B knowing exactly what to order for A at each restaurant , A keeping a stash of B’s favourite tea at their house even though A prefers coffee , mindlessly weaving eachother through the complicated threads of everyday life
8. saying the same thing (jinx) that’s always a cute little blush moment , the more absurd the sentence the better
9. saying the same thing ( non jinx) character A says something while chatting with their friends , it could be an absurd opinion , that no one else agrees with , or something poetic, like describing how a certain song makes them feel and the story cuts to character B unknowingly saying the exact same things , in a very different setting , to a very different group of friends
