Hermit-A-Day May '26 - Day 23
So. This is the one Bonus day I'm doing this year, and it's Friends of Hermits... I picked this one because there wasn't a TFC Day this year, and I had a breed and color planned out for him, and I felt this day would work better than the others. So. We have a TinFoilHorse today!
TFC is a bay leopard Colorado Ranger Horse!
"The Colorado Ranger is a horse breed from the Colorado High Plains in the United States. The breed is descended from two stallions imported from Turkey to the US state of Virginia in the late 1800s. These stallions were then bred to ranch horses in Nebraska and Colorado, and in the early 1900s the two stallions who every registered Colorado Ranger traces to, Patches #1 and Max #2, were foaled. The breed was championed by rancher Mike Ruby, who founded the Colorado Ranger Horse Association in 1935. Original registry membership limits resulted in many Colorado Ranger horses being registered instead as Appaloosas, but pedigree research is ongoing to discover additional horses who trace their ancestry back to the original stallions."
I didn't get the pleasure of watching TFC before he passed, and, with him being the Hermit of Hermitcraft, I didn't really see much of him in the few videos I did watch at that time. But I DO remember the different "memorial" moments from several Hermits I was watching at the time he passed, and I don't think I'll ever forget how choked up they made me. And so, even though I never really watched him, he'll always be a part of the Hermits and Hermitcraft. And I enjoy including him in the planning of all my little AU's and such.
So, he was included in my planning way back when I first planned these out, and so I very much wanted to include him in these drawings. Like I said earlier, I haven't watched much of him, but from what little I have watched, I felt an Appaloosa coloring felt fitting, along with a sorta niche/lesser known breed.
I do like how this pose turned out, especially because it was a bit of an experiment for me - I haven't really drawn many horses with their heads down before, but I wanted to try it, especially for TFC since it felt so perfect in a way I can't quite explain when I saw the picture I used as a reference when looking for one. And I think it turned out pretty good! All in all, I'm pretty pleased with this piece again! (Even if appaloosa colorings are very tedious to draw/color lol!)
in TFC's honour, im tunnelling out a whole mountain and decorating the mine
some little guys! for the @hermitadaymay sticker sheet! Go check it out, and make sure to check out the event & the fundraiser in May :]

hey so. hi, two things:
One, i'm probably gonna come back to this blog in a bit, i need a bit of a backlog first to set up a small queue, because admittedly i started this blog unprepared And when my mental health was declining + when i wasnt too happy with my art, and i thought, "hey, maybe doing art daily would help! surely pushing myself to do more when i feel like im already breaking (and keep ignoring whatever is going on) will fix this!" and it... didn't. of course. but i think im ready to try again now < :]
Two, and Way more important than that since my thing it's basically old news now (to me)- since there's a bigger concentration of tinfoilchef fans here, i need to ask, is there Any proper archive of all of his youtube videos in the internet archive?
bc well. my mind is somewhere not mcyt related these days, but i got that thought suddenly and a cold shiver ran down my spine not knowing if there was any....
so... yeah, i guess... see yall again in a few days? but seriously, keep me updated if there is or isnt an archive, is. making me a little nervous

When TFC joined the server, he brought along his pet canaries. Not to be used in the traditional manner of detecting blackdamp, but rather to serve as companions when he mined. He treated them like family, feeding them seeds and taking care of them when they got sick or injured.
However, they were more than just family. They were his eyes and ears on the server, a way for him to be there without actually being present. They flew around the server, reporting anything they saw. The other hermits admired them and treated them with respect.
To this day, the canary population around the server is quite large, with most of the flock now sticking to Joe and the other admins. Even after they left Season 9, the canaries followed them, always being there to guide their way. If you listen really closely to the canaries, you could even hear someone laugh.
This is also why Tango has such a strong attachment to Jimmy, who is a canary hybrid. He reminds him of home.
