Snowells Week 2020 Day 5: Time Vault

“So,” Harry sighed in defeat as he sat down next to Caitlin on the floor, “What now?”

“We could sit in silence while we wait for Cisco to fix the door,” she said as straight-faced as she could. Harry cocked his head slightly to look at her, confusion on his face.

“That sounds awfully boring Snow.”

“Well, you were complaining about wanting to get some- what did you say? Some ‘damn peace and quiet’ earlier in the lab. Now’s the perfect time to get some,” she teased.

“Oh, of course, the one time I don’t want peace and quiet, I end up getting it,” he huffed in fake annoyance, making sure to over-exaggerate as much as possible, which earned him a small laugh from Caitlin. He turned his face towards her a bit more and he couldn’t help but give her a small smile.

As he looked at her, for a moment, he thought he saw a slight blush on her face but she turned away slightly before he could confirm it. She had been doing that a lot lately. 

At the thought of what that might mean he couldn’t help but feel a warm sensation grow in his chest. That had been happening to him a lot lately too.

A comfortable silence started to stretch over them and if they happened to move closer together as time stretched on, neither of them minded. He especially didn’t mind when she eventually leaned her head on his shoulder and she certainly didn’t mind when he wrapped his arm around her.

“You know, I have one of these,” Harry spoke up as he gestured at the room, “back on my Earth.” 

“Hm, I think Cisco might have mentioned something about that,” Caitlin responded with a yawn, “Also mentioned something about a fake wall?”

“It came in handy when I needed to hide,” he explained, “This is probably the safest room in Star Labs.”

“I don’t know about that,” she murmured, lost in thought.

“What do you mean?”

“I’m sorry it’s just- The first time I came in this room, it was slightly after we all learned the truth about-,” she stopped herself before she said his name.

“Thawne?” She shook her head in response and unconsciously he ran his thumb against her arm. Despite all the years that had passed since they had learned the truth about Thawne it was still a sore spot for the team, especially because they knew he was still out there, plotting and waiting for the right moment to strike.

“It’s hard not thinking about all the planning he used to do in here,” she softly explained, “I try not to spend too much time in here if I have to.”

“I’m sorry Snow.”

“Don’t be, it’s not your fault that Thawne did what he did.”

“But I did get us trapped in here,” he continued as he shifted around to look at her, “Is there anything I can do to make you feel better about being in here?”

At his words, Caitlin smiled softly at him and that warm sensation came fluttering back in his chest.

“As long as you’re here with me I’ll be fine Harry.”

Time Vault (Wondrous item, Legendary)

A shining golden box that has a clock face with only one hand etched into its surface. This item has 12 charges. While holding the time vault, you may expend a charge to become incapacitated and have your speed reduced to 0 until the start of your next turn. After doing so, at the end of your next turn, you take an additional turn immediately after.

“Caitlin, my snow angel…” he whimpered, vision blurred by tears. “Fight her. Please, please fight her. I know you’re still in there—you have to be!”
