seeing tim in lester’s flashback made me emotional on a lot of fronts …… i haven’t rewatched s1 for a while but i have been thinking back about the way it introduced us to mabel and tim’s friendship and how it all unveiled back in s1. the way the audience get to know him, piece by piece, as the s1 plot progressed. he and mabel were friends, before everything. before the fallout, the not keeping in touch, before zoe’s death.
before all the plots of the following seasons. before the podcast was big. in s1 when we were just getting to know mabel and her backstory, seeing the flashbacks to the hardy boys days. tim and mabel at the fountain as kids. with oscar and zoe, going to different apartments in the building, exploring. it was …… such an age ago. things have changed since then. she’s grown up a lot since then.
but they were friends, once upon a time. the hardy boys. he left clues there, in the hardy boys books.
seeing in lester’s flashback, lester telling mabel now she’s got a lot of friends (as opposed to when she was very little and alone and had no one to play with her), and it struck me the way the beginning of s1 mabel must’ve felt so alone too - only this time she’s lonely after having been through the stage of having those friends. but she and tim’s not talking, oscar’s in prison, zoe’s dead. something something about growing up and growing apart and adulthood ……….
just. thinking about season one mabel and tim
Tim. Bunny. Ben. Sazz. Milton.
You were complex, and flawed, and beautiful, and you deserved a longer, happier life than you were given.
But I'm glad we got to know you a little bit.
Omitb has a thing for making the main trio hallucinate the people they care about who died. First Mabel hallucinating Tim Kono, then Charles hallucinating Sazz Pataki. Makes me wonder if they're gonna repeat that with Oliver too just to complete it.
There's not a teenager in OMITB that doesn't commit at least a minor crime.
The Hardy Boys: trespassing, drugs, theft
Theo: theft, manslaughter, desecration of corpses
Lucy: trespassing, running away (not necessarily a crime but I'll count it)
Ana: desecration of a corpse, social security fraud

I got to go back to s1 and see if it was Tim's phone or tox report or something that was suspiciously not submitted by the police cause now I'm curious.
I never thought it would come back, but I also thought that about the notes on the door, so 🤷♀️
well actually I thought the guy from s2 might of been the reason things were withheld but then they never mentioned it.
I know it's a common trope in murder mysteries with plucky amateur detectives that the police in general suck at their jobs, excepting maybe one particular cop, but damn, didn't anybody notice two left shoulders in the incinerator ashes?! I don't work in forensics, but I feel like it's pretty basic to measure how much ash was in there and if all the parts go together lol. Does Detective Williams have to do fucking everything over there?! Jesus! When she went on maternity leave the criminals of NYC must have been thrilled.
This is not the first time weird stuff has happened at the precinct, somebody messed with the Tim Kono evidence too. Detective Donna Williams sent evidence to the lab and it was never actually sent or something like that. She said that meant someone higher up wanted the case gone, or quiet, something like that, I'll have to rewatch the scene. At any rate, something weird is happening over there, and I bet eventually, possibly this season, there's going to be a murderer based over there. It's too weird, not just the typical "incompetent police" trope to facilitate the storyline.
