Good afternoon TAG tumblr
I hath been gifted a precious relic from my childhood which I had believed long lost.
Nan, you tried to teach me to knit so many times but it’s only 30-cough something years later that I realised how much work you put into this - 9 year old me adored it but 40-something me loves it even more (even if I can’t quite get into it).
60 years ago today, Thunderbirds first aired on the telly!
I remember watching the reruns when I was growing up in the 90s and being absolutely inspired by this series. And then, of course, again with the 2015 CGI series as well (I wish I could have loved the live action movie a bit more, but Busted did absolutely blow it out of the water with that awesome song 😁)
Happy Thunderbirds Day to everyone!
Hope you all have a F.A.B. day! 💙

. ...The only thing he could do was usher people to safety, hoping he remained undetected. Innocent civilians in this building were in harm's way because he was the target now. Scott couldn't stop, he had to keep moving.
::She could've damaged Two by now... Why not stop us from getting to her?::
::Because her target's not Two, Gordo. You saw the look she gave us...!::
"Guys, comms off unless you're updating me on still being alive," Scott hissed, ducking around a pipeline as he checked the floor he was on. He'd feel much better about the situation if he was alone, but their mission had called for heavy lifting, and now Virgil and Gordon were in this predicament too. He hated it. "Your floors clear?"
::All clear here. She seems to be neglecting the lower levels for now:: Gordon reported. Scott waited to say anything, hesitant if the second-eldest would follow up. No immediate response usually meant something had happened... He cursed softly under his breath and skittered for the stairwell - he knew he should have argued further to stay on the upper floors instead-!
"Virgil-!"
::Here... sorry... Found victims, trying to focus on keeping them safe. Going quiet for now.::
The building suddenly shook as something connected with its exterior. Scott didn't have to look far to realise his Thunderbird was on the hunt again, catching silver plating outside as he steered away from a break in the walls near a floor-length window, just as the glass was shattered. He pulled himself into the stairwell, and held the door shut. The eldest Tracy then turned and let his body slump to the floor, holding his head in his hands as he caught his breath, and his thoughts. He should have known something was wrong... He should have picked up on the signs...
But he didn't... And now, Thunderbird One had no sense of control of herself, being used to seek them out instead. They'd just got done rescuing someone, now they were the ones in need of rescuing...
A crackle sounded through the walls, and Scott braced himself, ready to run again. Instinct kicked in and he yanked open the door and bolted, just as the stairwell was ripped into by a giant metal hand. Scott didn't look back as Thunderbird One let out a shrill cry at having missed her pilot by a few seconds. He almost lost his footing as everything shook once more, but raced for the further set of stairs on the other side of the building.
::Sounds bad up there. You guys sure you don't-?::
"Gordon, you stay right where you are; you hear me!?" Scott warned, bracing again as small vibrations rumbled through his floor. "She's found me... Virg, you better be heading for the stairs!"
::FAB! Heading down as we speak! Though, that's easier said than done right now-::
"Left stairwell's out, take right!" the eldest continued, breaking off as he slowed to a stop. It was a chilling feeling as he stared out the broken windows, right into the visored gaze of his Thunderbird. After tearing off the stairwell, she hadn't moved from tracking him to another floor, following him as he'd run. Scott took a cautious step back. Maybe she hadn't seen him...? ...No, no, she'd definitely seen him. At least she was ignoring the building for now - his brothers could get out safely. But he couldn't move to alert them, not with Thunderbird One watching him so intently.
"One... I know you don't want to do this..." the pilot muttered, rocking back slightly as he went to take another step. "Come on now... Snap out of it."
She seemed to fall silent, as if she'd heard him. A feeling of dread settled over the eldest Tracy. He knew otherwise... It was almost as if he knew she was being fed a new set of instructions, from whatever had hacked her processor... He took that step back, and barely muffled a cry when the Thunderbird lurched, grabbing and pulling him free from the building. Scott struggled, his ears ringing - he couldn't hear much of anything, except for his heart thrumming in his chest, and his own gripes of trying to get his breathing back under control.
The only other times he'd been this close to her faceplates, was when she held him there after particularly bad rescues. They were close enough to feel each other's reassurance, to feel safe again... and he could reach up and stroke her plating, and tell her they were okay, the mission was over...
With his arms pinned at his sides in the moment, that for sure wasn't happening this time. Thought quickly forgotten, Scott's eyes widened, and an agonised cry built in his throat as the Thunderbird started to squeeze...
