#three lions

you opened your locker, putting one of your textbooks inside before taking out another for your next class. your friend leaned against the locker wall, telling you about the latest gossip at your school. you listened to her attentively, occasionally letting out a "really?" in surprise before turning back to what you were doing.

suddenly, your friend looked away from you and into the hallway. she nudged your shoulder teasingly, drawing your attention to her.

"two o'clock." she said, and you didn't have to ask her to know who she was talking about. you immediately turned around, and she laughed, murmuring something under her breath before you glared at her. you turned back around to scan the hallway, your eyes falling onto him.

jude bellingham, the most popular, and gorgeous (your opinion, of course) guy on the campus. he had his backpack slung over his shoulder, stopping in the middle of the hallway to dab somebody up before continuing on his walk to class. your eyes never wandered away from him.

you'd constantly told yourself that it was just a silly crush, that you would get over him one day, but that day never came. every passing day, you would still watch as jude made his way through the hallway, his usual route to class.

one day, he would notice you, you thought. one day.

over the next couple of days, nothing changed. every single day, you turned and watched as jude walked down that same hallway. your friends constantly teased you about it all the time, telling you to go up to him and talk to him if you liked him that much, but you always chickened out.

you were running late one day, fumbling with your combination lock, doing your best to not be late for class. you hurriedly grabbed your needed textbook and closed your locker, sprinting down the hallway to make it on time.

as you were running, the hallway mostly empty now that class is almost in session, you locked eyes with jude as he turned the corner, heading the opposite direction. however, it was brief as you tore your eyes away from him, making your way to class.

jude turned back to look at your figure running down the hallway, a curious look on his face. he watched as you disappeared the further you ran, a tiny smile playing on his lips. he turned away, a thoughtful expression on his face as he made his way to his own class.

that brief encounter is all you could think about. jude bellingham had actually looked at you, he knew that you existed now.

the next day, you took your same spot in the third row of your history class, one of the classes you share with jude. you were taking out your notebook when jude entered the room. you glanced up for a second and you froze in your tracks.

you locked eyes with jude again, for the second time this week. he held eye contact with you, not breaking it as he makes his way to his seat in the second row. you looked away after a second or two, cheeks already starting to turn a shade of pink. you thought there was nothing obvious about it, just a simple glance at a fellow classmate, but to anyone else, it was as glaring as a sign taped to your forehead which said "I like Jude!"

at the end of the school day, you were walking with your friends to leave the building. jude was with his own friends, leaning against the wall. his eyes watched you as you walked past him, and one of your friends elbowed you, not even making the motion discrete. jude saw it and smiled. you broke the eye contact again, blushing again.

the second you were out of earshot, your friends immediately started to swarm you. When did this happen? Are you dating him? He totally likes you! Just talk to him already! you were bombarded with relentless talking from all of your friends as you left the building, and you eventually told them everything.

"just shoot your shot with him already! he totally likes you, it's not like you can get rejected or anything." your friend kept on talking from her usual post at your locker. you shook your head at her, turning towards her, but her eyes were somewhere else, at something else behind you. you frowned and turned around, and you stopped breathing for a second.

jude was walking towards you. his friends were gathered near the wall, snickering amongst each other and watching the scene unfold. your friend took his approach as a signal to make a murmured excuse about meeting a teacher before walking away to give you space.

"hey." he said, stopping right in front of you. he was so nonchalant about it, as if his presence wasn't affecting you at all.

"hi." you responded, unsure of what to say.

"I'm Jude." he smiled.

you introduced yourself too, and the conversation between you two flowed naturally. you had natural chemistry with him. you didn't even have to try, the conversation just kept on going and going.

the more you talked to jude, the more you started to like him more. you didn't know a lot of stuff about him before, but now you did. you learned that he plays soccer for the school's team ;)), he had a brother, and more. you also hung out with him outside of school, which is how you met his brother.

both you and jude's friends relentlessly teased the both of you. your cheeks turned pink everytime your friends made fun of you. you even caught glimpses of jude's friends pointing at you and elbowing jude when you pass by.

you're at the park with jude one day, walking side by side. he cracks a joke and you laugh, throwing your head back. you point out the large fountain in the middle of the park, pulling jude along to see it.

"you're supposed to make a wish." you say, already pulling out your wallet from your purse to grab a coin, but jude is faster. his hand grabs yours and he places a coin in it, pulling out another coin for his wish.

"you first." you say, motioning to him to throw it. he does so, closing his eyes as he throws it into the fountain.

"what did you wish for?" you ask. jude turns towards you at the question, a smile playing at his lips.

"I wished.." his voice trails off, and he grabs your hand. suddenly, you forget completely about making your own wish as the only thing you can think about is how close he is to you.

"for the girl who's standing in front of me to go on a date with me." he admits. your breath hitches, and jude waits anxiously, his eyes looking over your face for any sign of a rejection.

"you didn't need to wish for that." you say, and close the final distance between you two, your lips meeting his.

the kiss is soft, and everything you've ever dreamed of. your arms wrap around his neck, and his around your waist. he smiles against your lips before pulling away for air. you smile back at him, and pull him in for another kiss. the world fades around you two, and the only thing you can think about is how happy you are in that moment now.
