What Volkner currently knows about the Kanto region is only their innovative history and technological advancement. He may have lived in Lavendar Town and Saffron City when he was a child but his memories are shrouded and better left undiscovered. Rarely one to travel, Volkner had two driving reasons that motivated his tired disposition.
If Volkner was going to live up to his Gym Leader title, he had to travel and learn different battling styles for type advantage. That reason alone isn't enough but, the second reason was builders block. He was stumped and needed outside inspiration. So with a friendly suggestion from Roark, Volkner found himself at Pewter City. Apparently, the gym was Rock-Type and, a small trivia he heard from a local grandmother, the Gym Leader was quite the cook. The town's description may be appealing, almost cute, but he felt anything but "nestled between rugged mountains and rocks".
He felt trapped.
Leave it to a Rock Type, cave dwelling fanatic and you get just that.
Sharp blue eyes gave nothing away but he was most definitely lost. Kanto was different, after all. He scanned the area and honed in on a man with spiky hair similar to his own. A frown made his way to his lips but it was only to stop himself from slipping a laugh.
He will do, he thought.
As Volkner approached he was able to observe the man better. The set, determined face portrayed no nonsense and his confident stance gave a battle experienced, sturdy trainer story, but his vibe was encouraging not condescending. Sort of like a....proud, big brother feeling to him. In fact, it was none other than Brock, the very man he hoped to meet and searched on google images not too long ago.
"Pewter City's Gym Leader, Brock?" He offered a faint, but polite smile.
