Adonis never thought he would want to keep up with new research until he started actually working with patients. Sure, as a student, it seemed as though he couldnāt sever himself from scientific papers quickly enough. But when it came to actually being responsible for all those sick people...how could he not keep up with anything that might save a patientās life?
Last night, he had come across such material. And so, when he came in early this morning, Adonis didnāt even bother to stop by his office or put on his lab coat before marching towards the ICU. A few words with the nurses pointed him towards their youngest dementia patient.
Of course, Adonis couldnāt try anything without consulting her neurologist, but the nurses confirmed that the patientās son was already present. It would be a waste of time not to talk to him while he was here, right?
āMr Laurel?ā The young man about to enter Mrs Laurelās room with a cup of coffee in hand -- that must be her son. Adonis approached him without even remembering that he had no uniform or identification card on his person. In his excitement, he could easily overlook the young manās confused expression. āGood morning. Iām Dr Belcher -- endocrinologist. I have nothing to do with your motherās case, really, but itās recently come to my attention that dementia patients could have underlying hormonal causes. It seems likely with your mother since sheās younger than most dementia patients. So-- I was thinking...and, of course, Iād have to get her doctorās approval first, but would you be willing to let us run some tests? The problem is...Iām not sure insurance would cover it, but I believe it might be worth a shot.ā
