okay i've had my cackles, read more has my current plans on a few things
I think one of the less talked about examples of misogyny in the warriors fandom is the way people talk about Bluestar and Thistleclaw.
I see this floated around occasionally (it was more common pre-spottedleaf’s heart), this idea that Bluestar was morally incorrect for not liking Thistleclaw. I don’t want this post to be insanely long but it’s just odd to me that not liking a guy who is rude and arrogant from the moment he’s introduced is this horrible thing to do. I’ve seen people argue that Bluefur was an unreliable narrator and that (before snowfur’s death) Thistleclaw was a totally chill guy who loved her sister and she was just super jealous.
Idk, it’s just frustrating to see this opinion still going around when cats like Jayfeather are beloved in the fandom despite being unnecessarily mean to cats who haven’t done anything to him. The expectation for a woman to be nothing but kind to a man who is, at best, annoying, and at worst, actively antagonistic towards her is one that I can’t get behind.
as a victim of grooming, i think the fandom needs to stop ignoring and pretending spottedleaf's heart didn't exist. it did. it makes her mean so much to me as a character, and to discard that element of her character makes me feel... weird..?? why do you want thistleclaw to stay evil in a Good Way? why are we ignoring this bit of his character just because its "icky". idk, it feels like im the only one that feels positively towards it somewhat.
