CONGRATS TO THE MON VALLEY’S OWN U.S. SENATOR-ELECT JOHN FETTERMAN, AND U.S. CONGRESSWOMAN-ELECT, SUMMER LEE!
As many of you know or do not know, my hometown is Braddock, Pennsylvania. And on Election Day, 2022, two of the Mon Valley’s very special citizens were each elected to serve the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in our Nation’s Capital, Washington, D.C. One of the Mon Valley’s very special citizens is PA House member, Summer Lee, who became the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s first-ever Black Woman to be elected to the U.S. Congresswoman as she won the election in PA’s 12th District. The other citizen can best be described in a paraphrased version of a Facebook post I first wrote this after he was first elected to serve as Pennsylvania’s next Lieutenant Governor in 2018.
In January of 2010, Braddock Mayor John Fetterman drove my mother to my sister’s house in Garden City (Monroeville) to get a snow blower during a massive snowstorm. In January of 2023, he’ll be sworn in as the next United States Senator representing the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Yes, this is another bittersweet political victory I’ve ever lived through as the greatest mayor Braddock had ever elected–turned Lieutenant Governor of PA–will vacate his position in less than a couple of months from now to swear in as the state’s next U.S. Senator.
However, John will never, ever, forget the people he served as mayor of Braddock, and Lieutenant Governor of PA–let alone the positive impact and spectacular legacy he leaves that clearly makes him the #GOAT in the Braddock mayoral category, And the Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor category!
To my friend, Gisele Fetterman; As you were as the first lady of Braddock, and the second lady of PA, you’re going a LEGENDARY spouse to a U.S. Senator! And like your husband, and the aforementioned U.S. Congresswoman-Elect Lee, YOUR positive impact and spectacular legacy will never be forgotten. And in turn, I know both you and your husband will never forget the people of Braddock, the Mon Valley, and ALL of Pennsylvania.
And along with Senator-Elect husband, you both deserve the right to show the state the next 6 years in Washington, and/or more, what you've shown Braddock the last decade. And regardless of political siding, the people of Pennsylvania looking forward to what's in store in an effort to help change this state in positive and united/non-partisan ways. I love both of you, and may God bless both of you. And may God Bless Braddock, Pennsylvania, and the aforementioned U.S. Congresswoman-Elect Lee. And above all else, may God continue to bless the United States of America!
